Technology New Ipod?

S O F I, I know you're trying to say that "there are other devices like it" without saying it, and you are right but if you look at the number of Sidekicks, N-Gauge or other PDA-like devices being used and compare it to the number of iPods being used - you'll understand what I mean when I say "mainstream".

Ipods are wack, I hate ipods but I see much enthusiasm when people here speak about it so I think I'll keep my further thoughts to myself..

^kinda agree. ipods are overrated. ipods are a trend. it'll die someday. in the meanwhile i'll be patient.

If you're not using a Mac, getting an iPod is mostly a status symbol. What I mean by that is, the true beauty lays in Apple. If you're on Windows, etc., just stick to Zune or whatever else device that has just as many "problems" if not more.

The reason why the Mac market share is growing is because of the iPod and other quality products Apple makes.

Keep posting.

my iphoto blows balls... i can hear the clicking from the HDD which i guess means the HDD failed.. i gotta whack it on the palm of my hand and then it starts working again... so i think im gonna sell this on ebay and then go from there... maybe get the 160 gig classic...

Speaking of quality.. ipods are average. You can get true high quality of audio and overall buying Iriver or even Iaudio and it's priced similarly to ipods. Ipods are much overrated and overpriced because it's apple, it's popular because of it's looks and overall apple-like style. Same with Iphone - there are phones that cost 50% of Iphones value that are technically better.

dilla - iPhone uses flash, it doesn't have a disk drive. If you're talking about a classic iPod, then it could be the hard disk. hard disk failure is not just limited to Apple products - by your logic, every computer blows balls if you give it time. I suggest you stop treating your iPod or any other electronics like a mechanical device - whacking an electrical device doesn't do you any good. Maybe that's why it broke? I have a G4 PowerBook I purchased 4 years ago. I replaced the screen because I dropped it but everything else is still working and I believe it will keep working for another 4 until it goes into a well deserved retirement.

masta - I think you missed my earlier point. You can do a side by side comparison of the technical specs but using the actual product is another story. Apple is, in my mind, second to none because of the software they develop. I bought a Samsung K5 a year ago because I needed a mp3 player and I didn't want to wait for a touchscreen iPod. It looks nice, the platform looks nice but the usability is crap. I hate browsing on it. I love browsing on the Touch. And that kind of beauty can be found throughout the Apple line up. I'm willing to pay more for that and I'm not going to settle for a fake ass OS X skin on Windows like some people do.

no it would skip despite me taking good care of it... and i know it had a hdd because i could hear it spinning... i also knew that the generation after the iphoto was released was all flash so it used less battery and was lighter too

i would have to whack it after it would start clicking... it wasnt the cause
