Someone tell me what the big deal is with getting props online? Let me start off by saying I don't have anything against giving people props, but what annnoys me is when people get mad when they don't recieve props. What exactly do net props do for you? Nothing. I got into it with some fuckhead on a forum because I basically said "what's the big deal about net props?".

He went on about how his "collection" was bigger than mine or something, i'm not even sure what the fuck he was talking about to be honest. Maybe his collection of music, but that had nothing to do with the argument. Anyway, he threw a fit because he didn't recieve props on everything he had posted. So then he starts posting links that are to password protected zip/rar files. He was basically demanding props to get the password. What a fuckhead. I explained how it isn't a big deal and if he liked the music like I did, just spreading the music to new people should be a good enough reward. He went into a bunch of bullshit that was pretty irrelevent. I guess because he knew I was right?

Like I said though, there's nothing wrong with giving people props for a good post. It's annoying as hell though when people ask for props over and over or demand them when they post. People need to realize that having a bunch of rep points won't get you anything in life.

Does anyone feel me? Agree? Disagree? :thumb:

1. They lower your blood pressure.

2. They enhance your sex life.

3. They give your skin a glowing, healthy look.

4. They bring you financial wealth and power.

5. You can read minds.

And the list goes on...

I dont think he is talking about rep points, hes talking about net fame.

Rep points on here serve to encourage good posts.

Pretty soon we'll have things that only people of a certain amount of rep points can access to encourge good posters.

If you don't know why net props are important, you don't belong on the Internet. :)

See, you still live in the 90s in terms of how you approach the Internet. Today, the Internet is no longer for geeks and even cool people use it. Today, it has become more like life, and props are part of life. So, yeah, recognition...everyone likes recognition.

That's why authors put their name on a book, producers put their name at the end of a movie, etc.

One day, there will be no difference between the Internet and real life.

- These are the words of a geek (me).

Still, for people to trip and make a big deal over someone not giving them points online is just dumb. If someone makes a good post, they definitely deserve it. But if the person starts demanding props and gets all stupid about it, that's where it becomes annoying. It's like those kind of people think they will be better than others if they have more fame on a forum. It's ridicilous.

Thats when you report them and I ban them, to boost my net fame of course.

^^
lol, you are both repped, plus jokerman.. shit i'll rep linx for the thread and sicc for his big-ol-baby-cuteness too :D

obviously, demanding "props" on the internet is a childish act of morony (is that a word? lol.) to me, say, if i post a remix or a track that i produced and people like it, it and post up some good feedback, feels good because wether you're told you're good on the internet or in the real world makes no real difference. but i guess that is a lot different to posting up shit that other people don't have, like rare mp3s or whatever lol. you don't deserve props for that, because in 147389258278905720875842 out of 147389258278905720875843 cases, you did not do one piece of legwork to get whatever it is you have - someone else did. most of the time, whoever posts up something "rare" was given it by someone who spent time (and perchance money?) to find it. report the sucker to rukas and have him banned, i feel the anger flow through my body by the very thought of such a moron :thumb:

Haha Ruk, well that's the good thing about this forum ..i've never seen anyone here do it. I see it on other forums though and I figured I would post about it here to see what people think about it. Hopefully people here don't start doing it, lol. Pretty much everyone I see here sharing shit and making good posts are cool, i've never seen anyone demand props.

That's how it is on Boxden. On here, I have no idea why some people have so much rep, cause I have trouble finding one quality post by them. I guess it's one of those "you rep me, I rep you" sort of things. Or, they get repped because of sharing music to the 2pacboard community aka stealing links from other forums and putting them up here.

Yeah man, Boxden is the forum i'm talking about actually. People on there are fucking clowns for real. It's amazing how much they care about their internet money and number of props on that forum. They get really serious about it, it's insane. But you go there so i'm sure I don't gotta say much more, lol.
