Nestle don't "own" L'Oreal, they have shares in L'Oreal.

They do have a shit load of brands, though.

Nestle own 26.4% of shares in L'Oreal. The Bettencourt family, who founded L'Oreal retain 27.5% of the shares. 46.1% of shares are publicly traded.

26.4% isn't a majority, nor is it a controlling interest.
