i dunno where you missed the part that she needs money to pay for her schooling and for her apartment and lifestyle. shes not living with her parents so she needs a job even if shell be studying full time. and i dont get the thing you say about getting paid only 75% of what we are promised?

and i'm sure when syn will graduation she'll think twice about why or why not keep her current job.

wtv i'm not getting into an argument with you..

i'm in the middle of actually living one of your options. this is one of those decisions that you win and lose at. some people would go route a and some people would go route be and still b happy either way. but you've got to focuse on what YOU want out of this.

i chose financial stability and education over big money. i'll admit financial stabiltity and education (lets call this route b) was less money and took alot more patience. alot, lot more. but the amount of experience from the combination of work and school is damn near priceless. by the time i finish, i reckon by the end of this year. they'll be damn near no job i can't have. and no job i can't do. sounds good, but once more let me remind you..... less money and lots... i mean lots of patience. oh, and sacrifice as well. as mentioned before.

funny thing i've learned about the sacrifices is that the shit you might give up is sometimes shit you really never needed in the first place. shit that you just happened to spoil yourself with. shit that might even complicate your life more than it should. but that was my experience. i can't say how yours might go.

as for big money (lets call this route a) i took that route two years ago i believe. one thing i've learned is with big money comes bigger responsibility. the other thing is that there's a chance you might end up stuck at that job. and chances are a job that's paying more will tolerate less. people will expect their money's worth. the upside to this is all the money you'll be making. as long as you can handle your business, you'll do fine. but when you start fucking up, it's your ass. as there is a pit of sharks underneath your feet ready to take your place. sharks that can probably do your job faster and better than you.

i chose route b and i don't regret it. what i DO regret is not chosing route b five years ago. i could've been taking paid vacations to your part of the world and having exotic luxuries by now. but instead i'll be doing that a little later it seems.

honestly, with you being so close to school it seems like a slap in the face to just throw it all away like this. if you can get this big company's attention now, imagine what you'll be able to pull with your degree.

but then again, there's a chance another opportunity like this might not come for quite some time. hmmmm.....

quite the rock and hard place you got there. good luck.

that's good.. and the reason i brought up college is cuz she went to depaul, which is 20 minutes away from me, in the city.... she was well off, but from what she told me, and correct me if im wrong synful, but the whole outta state tuition bullshit really got to you, so you moved to michigan... right?? dunno how i remembered that, but i hope that's it... so it was obviously some financial issue she had....

so what i see it as, which could be wrong, is that she works now and makes how much ever she thinks she'll make... 27K or something like that... or she goes to college and starts of at that point and then moves on up from there...

syn, not to make you feel bad or guilty, but a business degree or some from depaul woulda gotten you pretty high off to start with....

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make and I make that statement out of confusion not anger.

Ermmm... I'm not even sure where to go from here. I'll answer what I think you asked.

I moved to Michigan for a few reasons, mostly personal that didn't have much to do with school.

DePaul is a great school but it's private and tuition is outrageous without as many scholarships and not as much financial aid due to the fact that it's private. I'm damn smart but my parents aren't rich. No one can afford to send me to school. I pay my own tuition so I have to go where it's affordable. When I come back i have an interview set up with Northwestern University which is like 5 mins or so away from my apartment and I do believe it's a better school than DePaul....no?

The jobs in question....

one pays 25K which is like 12 per hour plus commission and bonuses... so whether I sale anything or not i'll make money still just not as much as the other job which up front pays $17 an hour.

I'm two semesters (roughly a year depending on credits that are accepted at a new school, etc) from graduation with my bachelors in International Business.

The reason I was strongly considering the lower paying job is that they pay for your tuition in full and I know I can't afford to pay for a years worth of classes on my own. Not even if I get some loans, i'll still come up short. And I don't really want to take out too many loans because i'll probably have to do that for my masters.

Um, i'm still debating I've not decided on anything concrete yet. Thanks for your interest and advice I think... I"m still confused... lol

Did that clear things up perhaps?

no, you got what i was saying... depaul's private, so's NU... NU's blows the shit outta Depaul, NU is actually in the top 15 in the nation... you cant praise it enough, but tuition there is in the 40K's i think.... prolly double of depaul's...

as for the job, shit, if they pay for your tuition, then really it's 25K in your pocket cuz that's really all you were gonna need the money for in the first place.... sure an apartment is expensive in the city, but 25K is more than enough to pay the rent...

i guess i cant help you much further cuz im just gonna be in college next year... im sure my views'll change, but until then....i dunno...

still, northwestern is not cheap.... im sure you know that....

Well, it won't be 25K in my pocket because I have rent to pay (Evanston is NOT cheap to live in as i'm sure you know) plus there are utilities and etcs. I take care of myself so i'm responsible for all my own bills. It would be in my pocket though if I still lived with my parents though, that would be sweet, lol.

Yeah, NU is expensive and private too but they're bigger and they can offer me more financial aid coming directly from the school as opposed to depending so much on the gov't. Plus, if I take this job they'd cover the rest.

why live in evanston??? just because the campus is there doesnt mean you live there... live somewhere cheaper like oak lawn or something... you just gotta hunt aruond for cheaper places..

I didn't move their for the school. I love the neighborhood. I'm two blocks from the beach, it has a small town feeling without being a small town. There are a lot of things to do and it's a 15 min train ride to the loop. I'd pay the extra money happily to live in a neighborhood that I love.
