Technology need help again

k so i installed xp turns out the copy i got was already activated, my times up and needs to be activated but i can click on microsoft website help thing from the activation screen which can get me to the inet through there i can open up my start and get into dos for about a minute, when in dos i try and format my hardrive it wont work. what commands should i be using, all i have is a drive C:/ the other two are cd and burner any advice would help

^Where did you get your copy of xp? If you want to format your harddrive:

You have two options. You call the microsoft number If you have a legit copy of windows and tell them. You had to reinstall windows and there is only one computer running this copy of windows. and they will give you the key. I'm sure they will undertstand. If not then you only have one other option.

If you have any valuable data on your computer it is advised to back that up by any means possible. Even if you have to take out your harddisk drive and connect it to another computer before attempting soulution number 2.

2. Clean Install. Shut your computer down and Reboot your computer with the CD and reformat your hardrive and install another operating system such as Windows 2000. Or get another copy of XP. You can not reformat your hard drive from windows. You either have to boot the computer with your windows CD. Or download a windows 98 boot disk from Http://www.bootdisk.com and boot the computer with a floppy.

dos wont let me chage directories so i dont know any other ways so screw it i might just have to call microsoft
