R&B artists seem to be making headlines for getting arrested as of recently. Over the last three weeks, singers J. Holiday, Ne-Yo, and Tank were all arrested in separate incidents for different reasons. J. Holiday was taken into custody for possession of marijuana, after he was pulled over in Maryland. Ne-Yo was caught speeding at 100 mph and driving without a license in the state of Atlanta. And Tank was arrested and tasered in New Orleans during NBA All-star weekend for resisting arrest.
News of Def Jam artist Ne-Yo's arrest did not break until a few days after it happened. According to various news outlets, Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, was actually arrested early Tuesday morning (February 19) in Atlanta for reckless driving and driving without a license. He was released that same day on a $1300 bond. Ne-Yo will have to answer his charges on March 25.
Later in the week, in an unrelated incident, Capitol Records' recording artist J. Holiday was also arrested when his car was pulled over for speeding in Salisbury, Maryland. After smelling marijuana, the officer arrested both Holiday, real name Nahum Grymes, and friend, George Jackson. He was also released.
