NBA QUESTION (Something im not Understanding)

Why are the players going back to the old ball after Jan 1st? They hate the new ball it hurts their hands, their hands get cut up when dribbling it for 48 minutes, they dont like the way it feels.

All i gotta say is WTF? scoring is way up this year. you got teams scoring 140+ plus. players scoring 40 to 60 pts per game.

Phoenix and NJ their 161-157 shootout a while back. the Pistons 151-145 loss just a couple of nights ago. games are more exciting this season


The ball must not be that bad if players are putting numbers up like that. an were not even half way through the season yet. whats gonna happen when the old ball comes back. scoring gonna go down i hope not.


A bunch of whiny ass millionaires with nothing better to do. They must hate David Stern personally.


Does anybody have a logical answer, if you do please let me know .

you may be right with that Sofi. if thats the case all teams should only be avg 70 to 80 PPG. scoring shouldnt be so high

The scoring is up cause they changed the rules over the years, they promote offense and you are not allowed to play defense like you used to... that has absolutely nothing to do with the ball. You're right, players put up big numbers but see, back in the days a player didn't go to the line 25 times a game like it happens these days sometimes. You can't be lookin only at the scorer and judge by that. We have high scoring games but after all, the nba is more boring than it was years ago. No one wants to see all those FTs and calls. I don't like it.

There are so many different factors that lead to an increase in scoring. Menace pointed some out. The ball is clearly not the biggest one.

Besides all this, you're asking the wrong question.

The real question is, why did the NBA not give a fuck about other players complaining until Steve Nash complained?

I think the major problem was not the ball itself. The problem lies with change. A lot of players that aren't against it, including Michael Redd, have said they don't understand why some guys are complaining because the pig skin cut hands, too. Some of the players that have gone publicly against the ball, are actually for it now. Steve Nash after scoring 40 said he "could get used to it." Gilbert Arenas said after dropping 60 "I actually kind of like it now..." D. Wade likes it because it makes the backboard more reliable. The only apparent real problem is it's quite slippery when wet and too sticky when dry (although this has been proven to be a benefit).

I am sure they will bring the ball back next season. The players will realize it was a better ball. And fans will realize how much more exciting it has made the games. Numbers are up all across the board. The NBDL will now use the ball for the remainder of their season (for testing).

First of all, David Stern is a fool for not askin the players how the feel about the ball before he introduced it.

Second, I don't feel like the ball has anything to do with the high scoring like stated before, what makes you guys think that it's the case? The ball makes the games more exciting? How? I start to believe ya all watch a different NBA than I do lol.

Gameplay and scoring has nothing to do with the ball. The same shit I see them doin in the Pro's is the same shit I see em doin on black top, or in your local gym with all types of different balls. It's not like they're goin from wood to titanium drivers. The game is evolving, thats all it is.

The real problem is Stern didnt let the players try it out he let ex NBA players use it. They are just upset because they didnt have any input on this ball before it was put into use.

It's not as if the ball is magical or somethin'. I don't know about the other games, but the Pistons v. Knicks, they hit 140/150 pts. because of the addition of 3 overtimes it took to win.
