i shouldnt say it ended with the jordan era.. im in chicago and have been since the jordan era and it died down here quite a bit.. the pistons and lakers were big, especially when kobe and shaq were together.. so the early 2000's it was still big.. it went down once teams like the heat started winning... same thing for the superbowl.. it sucked this decade, save for the bears-colts and giants-pats.... the giants pats was hyped only because of the pats undefeated season on the line... no one cared about the bucs or steelers winning...

Uh, there was plenty of hype about Ben Roethlisberger. The Patriots' three wins were a big deal. John Elway finally winning it, then winning it again the next year was a big deal. The Ravens' going to the Bowl was a big deal, around here anyway, since it was an Urrea team going against another DC/MD/VA team's divisional rival. Kurt Warner was a media darling the year the Titans whooped him.

I agree on Tampa Bay/Oakland being a farce, though. Gruden Bellichicking it was something else.

spurs and pistons championship series? i wouldnt even watch...
dont get me wrong, i think the fundamentals of basketball are the most important part, but seeing rip hamilton play off the ball and tim duncan bank in some ten footers doesn't make a series for me. i'd rather see kobe doing his finesse moves and KG wit his intensity.

I think the Lakers/Detriot series a few years back was pretty good. I live in LA but I'm originally from Houston so I'm not a big Lakers fan, but I will say that I think the Lakers will take this series in 6. I didn't realize they were actually really pretty good, much better than I thought. I couldn't believe they took down the Spurs as easy as they did. Here's a video simulation of Game 1 of the Finals on NBA 2K8. This game looks freakin awesome btw!!! It's funny to see what team wins in this simulation, how close will it be to reality? Not the biggest fan of his but I think Kobe is going to pull this one out. Shaq who?
