Film & TV NBA Eastern Conference: 4th, 5th, 6th Seed

This could be a very interesting week. Three teams are fighting for that 4th seed for homecourt advantage. The Bulls are currently ahead 1 game for the 4th seed. The Pacers and Wizards are tied for the 5th spot, but Pacers get the tie breaker because of conference record. All 3 teams play tomorrow. If series' history proves to mean anything, the Bulls and Wizards will win, while the Pacers will lose. The Bulls play Orlando (Bulls own the series 2-0). The Pacers play the Sixers (Sixers own series 3-0), and the Wizards play Cleveland (series ties 1-1).

So let's talk theoritically. If the Pacers lose (they most likely will because they already lost 3 times and Sixers are on fire right now), Washington and Chicago win. Pacers get bumped down to 6th, while Washington and Chicago are tied for 4th. Washington will take the 4th seed because of their conference ranking.

If Washington by chance loses, as do the Pacers, Chicago takes 2 games ahead. Pacers and Wizards are still tied and all seeds stay the same. So if this were the case, Chicago would most likely win this seed because their final 3 games are against Atlanta, New York, and Pacers (Bulls own the series right now 2-1). But if Chicago wins tomorrow and loses against the Pacers by chance, their final record will be 47-35. If the Wizards lose tomorrow, their final record will be 46-36 because the rest of their schedule is easy, they own every series. So tomorrow is a must win for the Wizards to tie the Bulls theoritical final record of 47-35. The Bulls must lose atleast one game for the Wizards to take the 4th seed while the Wizards have to win the rest of their games. The Pacers will probably end up with the 6th seed because they play Orlando and Miami, both teams they lost to more than they won this season.

Bottom line is that it's my prediction that Pacers will take the 6th seed. Washington and Chicago will fight for 4th for the remainder of the season.

so your prediction is that two teams fighting for the same spot will continue fighting for the same spot? bold :D

c'mon, who wins the 4th spot?
I don't know that's why I'm saying it will be interesting. I think it will be a tie all the way to the end.

i really hope cleveland loses as many games as possible so the nets could get in...they will at least put up a better fight against miami imo...

come on would you rather see Vinsanity and Kidd against Wade and Shaq or an inexperienced sliding Cleveland team that would undoubtedly get sweep in first round

Agreed.

On a side note: I am right so far :). Pacers lost, Chicago and Washington won.

i dont understand.... If both the Wizards and the Bulls win, and that the Bulls have a one game lead right now, how would the Wizards take the 4th seed bcuz of their conferance rakings if the Bulls are still going to have a one game lead

I missed a game somehow. But if the Bulls lose tonight (very unlikely), they will be tied with the Wiz and the Wiz will take that 4th spot. However the way things are going it looks like the Bulls will take that spot. They Bulls have to lose one game and the Wizards have to win the rest of their games to take it. The Bulls have no chance of losing except against Indiana.

What I like about the Wizards is that they have these three prolific scorers in the starting lineup, yet there's never any sight of selfishness. Also, Jamison has the least average among the three, yet he was dropping back-to-back 50pt games back in the day. Well, there is the injury factor this year.

^Yeah, it's a real bummer. Chicago will be forced to play the perimeter too much and I don't think Duhon, Heinrich, and Gordon will be able to do enough to win games.

I dont care who wins anymore. I like the Suns. I hope they take it. But dont really care. This sucks. What sucks even more is that the Clippers, Warriors, Suns and Kings all have the talent to make some noise while the Lakers still dont have any cap room flexibility.

Hmm...Why is that? What could be the reason?
