I was bored so thought I'd type up the part where Nas mentions 2pac, from the interview in Scratch.

What 50 Cent does not understand is that 2pac was real. And I don't mean real in the way hip-hop niggas, industry niggas, or internet niggas say real. I mean mind, body and soul warrior real. Pac was younger than we are now and you still got a nigga like 50 tryin to initmidate him when he aint gotta do that. When Biggie and Pac died they were younger than all of us.

He goes on to speak on 50. He speaks a little sense but you can tell there's an underlying feeling of hate from Nas. He says 50 isn't on his radar but 50 definately bothers him. I dunno if he feels threatened or what?

Of course there would be some hate from Nas
50 been taking shots at him and his wife for the past yeat

i think what hes sayin is real as shit ... nas even though he might get an erection of off sayin what he says about pac ..he also says intelligent, thoughtful shit ... he does represent pac in his own way ... im not sayin hes not dickriding or even has no right to represent pac but what he stands for and what pac does goes hand in hand somewhat hence .."me and 2pac was soldiers of the same struggle" .... nas definitely makes sense when he speaks on pac tho

That's what a lot of people need to realize about Pac. Nas was someone who was friends with BIG way before he was famous, and he met Pac like one time and he has such a genuine, real love for him.

He goes on to say that this (the fact that 50 will never be on Nas', Jay-Z's, BIG's, or 2pac's levels) is why 50 is angry at Nas. 50 called him a "Window Shopper" and said that Lloyd Banks and Young Buck have houses that the Bravehearts cannot afford. He's trying to say that because he's richer than Nas, he's the better, more-likely-to-go-down-as-a-legend rapper. Nas with this Pac thing is trying to say that a legend isn't necessarily someone who has money or wins awards and sells records. More like someone who is "mind, body and soul warrior"-like. Very true.

~peace~

I understand what Nas is sayin, but I just dont get why he's sayin it. Nas claims that 50 is mad at him cause he's jealous, but 50 has admitted that he pissed @ Nas for not calling to let him know about the whole J-Lo track incident and then Nas's remarks at his free concert. I read the whole Scratch interview and Nas was sayin how 50 never gave him a call after he blew up. I aint hating but it almost sounds like another one of his contradictions.

Yeah I gotta agree.

50 has reason to hate on Nas. Nas, intentionally or not, put a block on 50 when he was trying to come up. That's why 50 is pissed. Nas then hated on 50 at that concert, and 50 replies. Nas sounds to me like he's trying to add credibility to the Snitch comments to discredit 50. If 50 isn't on his level, why comment. And I think Nas is jealous of sales, especially after SD's bad sales.

Nas is a legend, 50 isn't, and isn't likely to be. It's all bullshit anyway. I'll still check out the records. And I'm hoping the Nas - Premier album will be banging.

What Nas said was true, but not entirely profound since it was really obvious. Everyone knows (except 50 Cent) that record sales don't seal your status as one of the greatest rappers ever. I also like Nas's definition of a legend, soooo true.

Thing is... Sales may not make you a legend. But sales do immortalize you. More people will know 50 Cent than Nas, although people who actually listen to hip-hop will know the difference.

Sales immortalize you in the minds of the current buying public, but once the rappers fade the music left behind won't keep them in the minds of the public. People still remember Illmatic, and that CD only sold 500,000 copies. In 5 years, how many people are going to remember Get Rich Or Die Trying, The Massacre, and any other of the shits that 50 has come out with? Nas makes good music, and he's being remember for that rather than record sales.

Right now, maybe. In a few years no-one will care about 50 cos he's played out. He'll get props for "GRODT" and thats it. Nas has dropped classic albums from day one.

I'm on about the majority of people. People that listen to music casually. Not strange people like us, who research the history, join music forums, and collect music and memorabillia of their favourite artists.

They wouldn't even have heard of Illmatic, but I guarantee they can name 2 of 50's albums.

I'm not saying 50 is better, or 50 is a sellout. I'm just saying that record sales are important and not just in monetary terms.
