Nas & Biggie

#1
This may have been talked about before but was there a bit of beef between Nas and Biggie? Just been listening to 'Last Real Nigga Alive' where nas says "You dont know bout my biggie wars/who do you think kick in the door was for?/but thats my heart" I would of thought they would of been homies especially during the east-west situation but going on what nas said it seems they had problems...anyone know what it was all about???

nor does it seem to have anything to do with Nas but whatver
One line that has something to do with nas:

"Preme I'm surprised you run with them
cuz they nothin but dicks
tryin to blow up like nitro and dynamite sticks"

Theres more if you just listen to the song.

It was to do with Biggie proclaiming himself as the King Of New York. That pissed Nas off and also Ghostface and Raekwon were telling Nas about how the Ready To Die album cover copied Nas' Illmatic cover, with the baby picture on it!

Nah, that was directed at DJ Premier who was producing the song. His protege was Jeru The Damaja who had a song called One Day dissin' Bad Boy.

The Nas line is:

This goes out to those/
Who choose to use/
Disrespectful views/
Of the King of NY

Biggie shouts out Nas in the Life After Death booklet..

Big and nas was coo with each other their beef was more or less just a friendly competition...

Big was dissin nas on kick in the door when he said

Your reign on the top was short like leprechauns
As I crush so-called willies, thugs, and rapper-dons

^^ Illmatic came out in april, Ready to die came out in sept of 94...Nas was gettin all the attention and classic reviews from magazines...then ready to die dropped and biggie was gettin all the acclaim..

It's ill when, MC's used to be on cruddy shit
Took home, "Ready to Die," listened, studied shit
Now they on some money shit, successful out the blue

^^ this is referencing to when Nas wasnt puttin out pop music and was on some "cruddy shit" on illmatic....then on it was written he tried to switch it up to the flashier stuff (If I Ruled The World and Street Dreams videos) and Nas got his mainstream success "out the blue" with It Was Written....

Biggie also dissed Nas on hypnotize, and victory..

"your fam...destiny lays in my hand" big on victory..

^ Nas daughter is named destiny

^took alot of my points

Nas was also pissed from Biggie winning "Lyricist of the year" award in 94, which dont make sense I mean lyrically Illmatic vs ready to die, but thats my opinion.

"Fake thug no love you get the slug CB 4 Gusto your lock blow, I didnt know till I was drunk though"

"Theres one life One love so there can only be ONE KING"

Wasn't that diss to 2pac?

Please.... BIG let Nas off lightly, Nas couldn't fuck with BIG and he knew it.

Man don't be silly I know you a big Nas fan but BIG would slaughter Nas. And that's the truth everyone knows it.
Nas is and was a superior lyricist to B.I.G. whatever the mainstream says. In a battle between the two it'd certainly be close but from my POV Nas would come out on top.

Nas' rhymes > B.I.G.

Nas' potentcy > B.I.G.

Nas' lyricism > B.I.G.

The only thing B.I.G. has over Nas is superior flow.

Hey You got Nas and the BIG names the wrong way round :p

Really though Nas does not have better Rhymes than BIG, BIG was all round better than Nas.

It's all subjective but as a lyricist how can you even begin to rate Biggie over Nas? Sure he was nice on the mic but Illmatic and It Was Written are lyrical masterpieces IMO.

Anyway, has no-one noticed virtually the entire four verses of Victory are dedicated to dissing Nas & Pac:

Talkin' crazy ain’t gonna get you nuthin but choked
(B.I.G.: uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh)
And that jealousy is only gonna leave you broke
So the only thing left now is God for these cats
And big you know you too hard for these cats
I’ma win cause I’m too smart for these cats
While they makin up facts (uhh) you rakin up plats
Pac diss.

In the commision, you ask for permission to hit em
He don’t like me, him and wild wifey was wit em
You heard of us, the murderers, most shady
Been on the low lately, the feds hate me
The son of *satan*, they say my killin’s too blatant
You hesitatin, I’m in your mama crib waitin
Duct tapin', your fam, destiny
Lays in my hands
, gat lays in my waist
Francis, m to the iz-h phenominal
Gun rest under your vest by the abdominal
Rhyme a few bars so I can buy a few cars
And I kick a few flows so I can pimp a few hoes
Excellence is my presence, never tense
Never hesitant, leave a nigga bent real quick
Real sick, brawl nights, I perform like mike
Anyone -- tyson, jordan, jackson
Action, pack guns, ridiculous
And I’m, quick to bust, if my ends you touch
Kids or girl you touch, in this world I clutch
Two auto-matoes, used to call me fatso
Now you call me Castro, my rap flows
Militant, y’all faggots ain’t killin shit
Ooops cristal keep spillin shit, you overdid it homes
You in the danger zone, you shouldn’t be alone

Hold hands and say it like me
The most shady, frankie baby, fantastic
Graphic, tryin to make dough, like jurassic
Park did quick to spark kids who start shit
See me, only me
The underboss of this holocaust
Truly yours, frank white
All directed at Pac & Nas

I like Nas and he's a great rapper, but BIG would crush him, litterally.......

Nas has one problem when he rhymes........he stretches his rhymes too far, with no breaks to tell where the rhyme is, you gotta really listen sometimes......otherwise it just sounds like he's talkin...........Nas doesn't really take breaks within' his verses, or add emphasis to punch lines/words he's rhymin' together (makes it hard for some to get into that shit 'cuz it's straight East Coast)........His concepts for song ideas, though, I would say outshine biggies..........biggies flow doesn't sound like he's FORCING it, whereas sometimes it seems Nas does
