my first day of high school

today was my first day of ninth grade, i liked it i saw friends who i didnt see over the summer even though i saw most of my main friends over the summer and hung with them. i had a little trouble finding a few classes because of a few things but mostly it was a breeze because i remembered where thy were from orientation and the floor plan is much like the middle school except with a 2nd story.only thing is im hardly in any classes with my friends. which is odd because i have a lot of friends but im in 2 classes with one of my best friends and i have classes with a few other friends. my teachers seem good for the most part they seem better than last years teachers. fuck last years teachers they fucked me over all year for fun
 
Congratz! Enjoy high school while you can, because it flies by and the real world isn't as much fun as it's cracked up to be :(

My advice to you is. . .don't ditch!

Keep your grades up and make every class, then wait until your senior year, around the middle before you EVER ditch a class.

Why the middle you may ask? because if you mess up in the beginning you're never going to be able to get back on track, and you don't want to make it all the way to the end of the year to find out that you can't graduate because you messed up.

Take it from a former Salutorian(sp?) that's the way to go:thumb:

I was salutatorian too, and take it from me - high school is a joke. The problem most kids have is with themselves. If they don't understand something right away, they believe they never will, and instead of trying to get it, they just say, "Why do we have to learn this stuff anyway? It's pointless." Of course it's pointless. It's high school. Just shut up and go along with it so you can get into a good college and get the fuck out of dodge. That's what I did.

So my advice... just do all your work, take, advanced courses, get involved with extracurriculars, and ace the SATs.

"Advanced" courses, such as AP, IB, and honors, are no harder than regular classes. You just do more, and it looks better on college apps.
 
I am here to tell you: DO NOT SKIP YOUR CLASSES. I mean, once in a while is cool, but don't do it consistently. I did that shit in the 9th grade, now I have to stay in school a extra year because I'm missing some credits. If I would've went to my classes like I should've, I'd be outta school right now. Luckily, I started shool a year early, so I'm still getting out when I'm 18. But I could've got out a 17.

Yeah, I second that, advanced courses are great, college reps LOVE them, and alot of the time, AP courses are worth college credits which will put you ahead once you start college.

Alos, extracurricular activities are great! For some reason colleges love those as well.

I was captain of the Pom Pon team, on the debate team, a member of the ESL program, and editor of the Minority Voice. The more you do, the more scholarships you'll be eligible for :thumb:

i was in like 10 different things over my four years...i cant remember them all haha...i didnt do shit for half of them, but i was in em, and i could put em on my app
 
im in some advanced classes i should be in more but my eighth grade earth science guy was a homo and made me retake it when i had a high c for the year. so now im not in advaanced science no more just regular. im supposed to be in advanced english but im gonna try the english out if i think i should be in advanced ill swith. every toher main class im advanced in.
 
I thought you were older, oh well. Anyways take the advice of the people saying not to skip classes, because in the end your education is what gets you better jobs, dont listen to the bums that tell you to skip classes and shit. Think of your future, and in the end it will all pay off.

highschool was alright, my advice is find what you want to do when you grow up and pick the classes that will get you there, if you want to be an engineer don't take photography class. Easier classes may seem good, but when you apply for college/university those easy classes won't matter. Like the other people said attendance is important, a pretty big chunk of marks rides on attendance.

I just had my first day of college (more like orientation), 100x better then highschool so far, teachers are down to earth and actually chat and joke, and we get to call them by their first names! THEIR FIRST NAMES!
 
Yeah, but your GPA from 9th and 10th grade still effects your cummulative GPA. If you mess up the first two years, it's going to be hard to make that up the last two years, and you don't want to stress your junior and senior year. That's when you want to take it easy, relax, and focus on other stuff, like visiting colleges ;)

Thats not true sure they say that 9th grade and 12th grade dont really count, but like syn said they do for your GPA, but still dont make mitakes you'll have to regret.
