Alright as we all know this message board has been getting kinda slow.

I got a suggestion or 2 to maybe make this a little better.

Aside from the obvious loading problems with the site.

Once you get into the site, which takes forever, you have a lot of good stuff at your disposal. You can read the news and comment and i am sure that what most people do these days.

When you click on the links to the discussion on the forums you obviously get redirected there. I know the site and the forum are sort of all just one.

My suggestion is separating them again.

When i go on the forums first of all i cant get out of a sub forum. For example if you go nto the streethop section of the forums there is no way to get out of it other than pressing the abck button on your browser. Unless you click on community at the top or use the forum jump.

I dont wanna make this a huge rant but what i am trying to say is this is an accessibility problem and the most important aspect of successful websites is that they are easy to access and browse through.

I dont know maybe i am just way off i kinda got a headache and cant even remmeber what i just wrote.

Let's hear everyone's view and see if we can jump start this message board again becuase i've always enjoyed coming in here and reading the posts people made.

I'll add some ore when this headache goes away and i got aclear head.

EDIT: Whoever is posting news on the site now s doing a great job with keeping it updated and alive. We need more people like that to help run the site and keep things fresh and updated.

Ill work on accesiblity with the next design.

Im going to totally kill the forum and reinstall it on a new server, same server but diff IP address with the hopes that things will run better. Im going to do a fresh install and port over posts and user accounts only and get rid of a lot of lose code that has gathered up over the years with all the hacks we've gone and removed since.

So hopefully things will be running smoother soon, thats a huge job so stick it out with me a little longer. Shouldnt be more than a week.

New design is just the bomb and we will stick with this one, its a joint effort and it just looks cool as fuck, going back to a dark layout but will keep this one selectable.

EDIT: I dont know how far the site design is etc. but if its up hosted somewhere and is pretty far in the process of being completed you should put it in the news section and start a Beta and announce Streethop 2.0 to get a buzz going.

I also would like to know if you are going to move the forum will you start it off with a clean slate and reinstall it completely or backup the current threads and move it over?

Also on an unrelated note, personally I think there are too many forums on here right now, its too spread out. I want to get rid of Picture Me Rollin and incoporate car discussion into Our Block, and perhaps even move Entertainment Tonight and Sports into here. How would people feel about that?

I think thats a good idea there is definitlely too many forums and i think it would look better if there was a more definitive and graphical distinguishes between the Offical forums and the streethop forums.

I'll try to do that but most topics i have something to talk about have already been started and my opinions have been pretty much stated by others. All thats left for me to do is "I agree" or something and thats just freeposting.

I did however start new threads in Poetic Justice on some stuff i have written. Not much but its a start i guess! I could flood that forum haha

I had a question Rukas do you have a section for unknown artists to get some exposure such as album reviews, news etc.? I think it would be a pretty good aspect to push for the site since its "streethop" and how much more street can you get than exposing new talent to the hip hop scene?

A whole section just dedicated to that would be great in my opinion and i'd actually would like to work on something like that.

It doesnt have to be just rappers either. It could range from Dj's that want some exposure to producers who make beats and are trying to sell them for a small amount of money but need some exposure.

You could make an application of some sort to be filled out with links to tracks and etc and have a different Artist every week.

Another sugestion would be if the lyrics section is part of the reason the site's slower then take it down. It really isnt necessary in my opinion.

You definitely need more people doing reviews on every Album that comes out like Sigh suggested in the other thread.

The video Section isnt necessary either. Let's be honest if i wanted to view a music video i could YouTube it myself

YOu also need more people doing interviews if possible. A Volunteer with Vonage would be nice because they wouldnt pay for long distance calls anyway and could interview with a script provided by someone else if they dont feel like putting one together themselves.

OK thats all i can think of as of right now. Not sure if anything of what i said is a good idea but ti doesnt hurt giving it a thought.

I'll try to think of some more suggestions later.
