You could probably sue to be honest. You need to see if they have something in their terms of service that stops you from playing on over seas servers...

Yeah I'm going to read their guidelines but I doubt I could sue them since Xbox live is not a service that I get guaranteed with my Xbox360.
It's more like an additional gimmick they don't really have to provide. My Xbox still does what it's meant to do - which is playing games.

Seriously I can't understand why are they doing this. I can't think of a single profit except for the fact that maybe 1% of these banned people will buy new consoles to play online. At that point I'd rather get a PS3 since I already have one xbox and basically both consoles have similar games and ps3 has free online functionality with no banning.

From wikipedia:

Users from the non-XBL countries (especially Brazil, Greece, Poland, Russia and South Africa) are constantly appealing to Microsoft for bringing the service to them as well. In April 2009 President of Microsoft Steve Ballmer promised that XBL will be available in Poland but he did not specify the final deadline.

so looks like its not available in Poland yet.

but why are they selling gold membership cards and equipment there then? are those being sold illegally i wonder. If so, you can surely seek redress from the store you bought it from.

Thanks. This is stupid though and makes me lose a lot of my sentiment for Microsoft.

They don't sell it in official Microsoft store but it's being sold in many shops where Xbox consoles are being sold as well as most other multimedia stores. A lot of people here use Xbox live. If they can't officially support Xbox live servers here yet why ban people who use foreign servers considering we have to pay as much as anyone else to use them?
Really, I don't understand Microsoft politics here.

They could at least send some warnings or info first. With the popularity of Xbox live most people don't realize that it's "not available" and you'll be banned for using it because you live in a place that is not okay to use it.

me neither. its stupid.

you should check out the store where you bought it from. the only explanation i can see is that retailers are selling them illegally. Wouldnt surprise me if they were buying them in bulk in Ireland or the UK and then selling them back in Poland.

Yes, but you paid for the service, it's not free.

Seriously, I think this points to a Xbox Live in Poland launching.

Heres a question. If I fly to Poland, and bring my 360 with me, on holiday, and I try to connect from there, will I be banned for connecting to the Australian servers?

^^id imagine that they can tell where the console was purchased? it wont matter where your console is connecting to the service as long as it has an Australian serial number. you enter the serial number when you sign up to xbox live. im not sure if thats how it works though.

Most modded consoles have their warranty seals removed because you have to take out the dvd rom to install a different, modded bios that wouldn't "block" backups from running.
Mine has the seal untouched so it's a strange thing.

I've modded countless xbox's and left them with the seal looking like it's never been touched. If you open the xbox from the back side the seal will peel right off without being damaged at all.

So yea do yourself a favor now and get yourself a PS3.
