Technology MP3 Cutting/pasting

I don't know if those are the correct terms, but I'd like a good program for making mp3 files from existing files, but containing just a section of the song. E.g., taking a song and making a new mp3 containing just a specific verse from the song. Also, I'd like to be able to take different mp3's and combine them into a single file. And I'd like a program that can burn a CD without leaving silence between tracks.

The reason is I'd like to make a CD of my favorite verses. Like a club-type CD with just different verses strung together.

Also, by "good" I mean something that works and is free or not too expensive.

get imtoo 3gp video converter. and convert the file to .wav, open it up in sound recorder, that's if you have microsoft windows. then cut the song from where you want. e.g. cut of 23 seconds from the start, and then when you're happy with the outcome, convert it back to .mp3, plus you can choose the bitrate quality before you convert it back.
