Technology MP3 Converter

Im sorry if this is the wrong place (Im sure there used to be a Tech Talk forum!) but I need someones help.

Where can I get a programme which converts all music files into MP3? I tried some iTunes thing but it was coverting AAC to WMA and back again. Its gotta be free by the way. I know theres summat out there I just need pointing in the right direction.

you can do it in itunes you just need to open up your settngs and change them

windows media player does it for me

in itunes just go to edit>preferences>advanced>importing

from there you can adjust to 128, 160, 192, 320 (stereo or joint stereo)... i suggest using joint stereo only for 128 and maybe 160
