I somehow managed to hurt my back about a month ago. Instead of taking it easy and icing it, I ignored it and hoped it would go away on it's own. It didn't and it eventually got so bad that I had to go see a doctor and miss a day of work. I got prescribed muscle relaxers and Motrin (about a ten day supply). However, my brother's 24th birthday was in the middle of the dosage and told me there was no way I was not going out and getting hammered on his birthday. So I stopped the treatment mid-way and then resumed it after the birthday. Unsurprisingly, my back didn't get better.

To make matters worse, I'm leaving my apartment the other day for work at like 645am. I see my brother's car parked at the end of my driveway and some green car stopped in front. I thought he had ran into her or some shit, so I walked over. Some woman who looked like she had just stepped out of a trashcan, emerges from her vehicle and tells me that she ran out of gas. So my first thought is that there's a fucking gas station about a 3 second drive from the direction you just came from, but this woman seems to have the IQ of Forrest Gump so I dont' say anything. My brother and me had to push her fucking car off the road because it was blocking traffic.

Let's just say I fucked my back up a lot more than it already was. Now I'm wondering what I should do. I really don't want to spend that much more money, but I know I'm either going to have to try to refill my medication or go see a chiropractor.

Help, anyone?

You need to strengthen your core muscles. Pain meds just cover up the pain they don't fix the problem.

Call the popo.

lol great advise there.

you should stretch your lower back more.

Lye face down flat on the ground and then place your hands about shoulder width apart at either side for your body and then bend your back and raise your head until you are looking at the sky. Hold this position for about 10 seconds, then relax and do it again.

That sounds like when the cops tell you to get on the ground and spread em.. then they cuff you

that's a common thing people seem to do when they have muscular pains, stretch them. it depends if it will make it better or worse. if you have a muscle strain/pull, stretching it will be like ripping a wound apart and thinking it'll grow back together faster. i say, go to a professional and get some advice there. do NOT fuck your back up by being stupid like a lot of people do. my dad has back problems because he had that "it'll probably go away, it's no big deal" attitude back in his mid 20s.

i repeat, do not try and stretch, pull and push. if it's an injury, it won't necessarily get better.

^^no im saying he could try stretching his back more to avoid getting muscular pain in his lower back

But the best thing would be to go a physio about this.

i would go see someone before i start stretching and pulling, though. if he got pain killers for it from the doctor, it's not just a little bit of a stiff muscle, which is what you normally stretch and/or pull for.
