Non-Urban Music Megadeth new single

It's a remake of Youthanasia's "A Tout Le Monde" with Cristina Scabbia. I think I prefer the original but maybe that's because it's one of my favorite Megadeth songs.

Just peeped it, excellent stuff. I like Cristina's contribution, she gives an extra dimension to the track. You'd never heard of her before? Lacuna Coil are huge in the metal scene here in the UK.



Hey Chron, I think we're gonna be the only Megadeth fans on here.....which leads me to another debate.....me and you are two of few ethnic minorities on this board....and GhettoStarr as well......and we all listen to a lot of rock, whereas I think a lot of white folks on here try and assert themselves as being down with hip-hop by trashing other genres, or simply not paying attention or speaking out about other genres they might like....i find that a lot of white people still feel they are outsiders in hip-hop culture and so act as if that's the only type of music they are into, or deliberately shut themselves off from other forms of music.

Whereas, when people look at me or you in the street, because of our skin tone, facial features, and I suppose in some ways dress sense (although I think that reflects youth culture as opposed to music culture), they stereotype us as straight hip-hop heads, so sometimes we make more of a conscious effort to associate ourselves with other genres too, like I'll let my hair down and walk down the street with an 'Appetite for Destruction' T-Shirt on, for example....anyway I'm starting to ramble. What are your thoughts on that?

I haven't really noticed it in any particular groups but I definitely agree that people who limit themselves to one music genre usually feel like they have something to prove and those that try to expand want to, in some measure, break stereotypes. It always pisses me off when people falsely stereotype a music genre so I do my best to give everything a fair chance.

I like to keep my dressing strictly Hip-Hop (although I don't think it's that obvious) because it means some people will judge me and it'll keep those judgemental fucks out of my life I'd love to get some dope vintage rock t-shirts though.

Since we're off-topic anyway, I'm still trying to get into death/black metal but I'm having a hard time with the vocals. You happen to know any heavy albums with 'growling' vocals that are easy to get into? Perhaps if I like one album the rest will follow. I don't want to discard that part of metal without giving it a better shot, especially since I liked some pretty heavy stuff like Slayer and Death Angel.

And are Lacuna Coil any good?

Lacuna Coil are pretty good, they have some good songs.

As for more growling metal, have you peeped any Sepultura or Soulfly? Max has a very growly, throaty vocal style in a very unique way, he is one of my favorite metal vocalists. Try Sepultura's "Roots" album or Soulfly's debut self titled set.

Thought it wasn't out until tomorrow. Did you cop it? If so, is it good?

I didn't cop it yet, but I read some pretty favorable reviews in some magazines last week. Kerrang gave it a good review. It's probably out here today, shops here stock the new releases on Mondays so I'll have a look in HMV after work.
