Rap mogul Master P pleaded no contest on Monday to a misdemeanor gun charge, and was placed on probation for three years, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

The 38-year-old founder of No Limit Records (born Percy Miller) was arrested in January 2005 with his brother, Silkk The Shocker (Vyshon Miller), after they were pulled over by LAPD officers for having no license plate on their vehicle.

When the police searched Miller’s Chrysler, they found a revolver and a semiautomatic handgun. Both were charged with a felony and faced up to three years in prison, but under a recent plea agreement with prosecutors, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

According to Deputy District Attorney Hamid Towfigh, in addition to three years probation the two brothers were also fined $700 and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.
