Martial Arts

i have a black belt in Tang Soo Do , i was an instructor in the style by the time i was in jr high and got my black belt soon after. i havent done it since i was in high school

i've been thinking about learning Capoeira, there are a few places around here that teach it, or taking up boxing

done karate. kyokushinkai or whatever how its spelt was the style of karate. done it til green belt and then left. bastards put me in adult level and i was only fucking 14 years old. so i left cuz it was boring without my friends. wasnt the same shit with the adults. there were like 30 y.o. to 60 y.o. and i was the 14 y.o. kid. :( now you can imagine i didnt wanna fight against them in combat class..

In the second grade I took Kung Fu, but I stopped going after a few weeks cause it got boring.

Capoeara rocks. Never done it, I'm too busy - but I think it's cool.

I used to do boxing for a few years back when I was younger. I still get down to the boxing club every now and then to do some sparring, though I don't really have the stamina to do it for long these days.

done boxing years ago, i still practice on the bag nearly everyday (so i can deal with idiots more or less straight away) brothers proffesional but hasnt fought for a while, did karate too but not for long, thought it was boo boo

i've done jun fan gung fu (a kickboxing styled art), jeet kune do (bruce's method taken over by dan innosanto and barry yedwabnick) and kali (filipino weapons). kali is the most fun for me and i have been nationally ranked in dagga and espada e dagga (knife and knife and sword) when i was heavy into it in college. jeet kune do borrows from all other art forms and basically is a conglomorate of all the effective techniques. in many ways jeet kune do is the spine of ufc and all those fight clubs. it's cool because while tae kwon do limits your range of attack to distance (my sensei always asked what will tae kwon do do for you if you get into a fight in an elevator - like i get into fights in elevators every day) jeet understands that mlost fights degrade to rolling in the dirt so it teaches shoot fighting and how to take it to the ground and always come up the winner. anyway, i have been involved for a little over 10 years.

I was into judo in a big way when i was a kid, i went twice a week from the age of 9 till i was 16, plus gradings and championships. I only had my brown belt to do then i would have been a black belt! When you hit 16 though you get into other things so that was that. Although i really enjoyed it at the time.

When I was 15 I studied karate and I found it to be very boring and the fact that I like martial arts with alot of agile training in them and karate doesn't offer you that.

Anyway, 2 years ago I studied Capoeira! I loved it alot, you have to be very agile and flexibile, it's a very cool martial art cause it also offers you variety. The best part is when you start to learn quite abit, then you'll always want to be in the rhoda and doing stuff cause you know you can and it's helluva fun. Anyone that have considered Capoeira should really try it. It's great!

EDIT: Capoeira is also different in that aspect that it's almost like a teamsport, everybody cheers and sings when someone is inside the rhoda and really the philosofy is great too. Find peace and harmony in the rhythm of the song :). You'll learn some very good songs :)

Tae Kwon do is just a good sport , nothing more. Its just the most marketed becuz its an olimpic sport ect.

im currently taking kenpo and extremly happy with it. Its more of a mixed martial arts that have a basis in Karate, and incorporate Shaolin Quan and kickboxing. The school always does a lot of sticks/weapons/knife training to shoot fighting. Im more into the kickboxing kenpo element for right now.

While most martial arts are somewhat flashy , Kempo or kenpo is very to the point. The object of kempo is to take down the opponent as quickly as possible.
