A Connecticut man accused of raping a woman after a melee erupted following a 2006 Jadakiss concert will be headed to trial next month.

According to The Stamford Advocate, 29-year-old Arnold Devalda allegedly took advantage of a series of brawls that took place after a Jadakiss performance at the Park Place Diner Cafe on October 22nd, 2006 by forcing a woman into his Lexus and driving away with her and raping her.

The unidentified woman, who was 23 at the time, claims that when she tried to scream for help Devalda punched her face and told her to be quiet. He would then drive her to a park and rape her.

After the rape, Devalda dropped her at a Super 8 Motel on Grenhart Road. Police revealed that footage from the motel’s surveillance shows a man matching Devalda's description arriving at the motel earlier that morning.

The woman, who was found by authorities at Stamford Hospital with bruises to her neck, thigh and face, gave police the license plate number of the car Devalda took her away in.

The plate number matched a car registered to Devalda's girlfriend.

Authorities say two days after the concert; Devalda turned the Lexus’ license plates in to the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles.

Devalda admitted to being at the concert but denied meeting the woman or raping her. He told police that he was at his girlfriend’s home by 1:15 am, an hour before the alleged rape happened.

The woman, who was intoxicated that night, says she is sure that Devaldo did not use a condom. Traces of sperm were found on her underwear via DNA tests.

The woman’s friends, who recall seeing her talking to someone matching Devalda’s description on that night, picked Devalda out of photo lineups.

Devalda's trail is set for January 29th, 2008 and he is facing charges of first-degree sex assault, first-degree kidnapping and tampering with evidence for turning in the license plates.

Police arrested six people on charges of fighting from the brawls that took place after Jadakiss concert. The incident was used by Connecticut community leaders as a reason to cancel a 2007 fundraising event in the city which was slated to feature Jadakiss claiming they feared that the Yonkers rapper would attract violence.
