Just because it is not acceptable by society doesn't mean it isn't real to the person who is dealing with it. Of course it's wrong, and most pedophiles know this, but they feel overwhelmed by their urges. A lot of them do feel remorse for what they have done, but feel that they can't hep themselves. Most don't see it as preying on children. I would suggest that you read some of John Douglas' books, he touches on this a lot. (If you don't know who he is, he is a former profiler for the FBI, and one of the pioneers in criminal profiling.) I, like him, consider it to be a mental illness. Unfortunately it is an untreatable illness. But I agree with you, nothing short of death can really help these people.
