Apparently, this kid was a little punk, harassing the old guy and getting his friends to do the same. It doesn't justify shooting him, but quite honestly, his parents should have reined him in.

Nah, no justification for shooting him at all. At most he could have just come out with the shotgun and sat with it by his side. But maybe he already had tried that. Then he should have set traps. Bear traps. lol

Well at least if he got hit in the leg more then likely the kid still be living, if people going say "oh the cops wouldn't have done nothing" "he had to take it in his own hands" "thats what the punk kid gets" then the only way to please anybody without killing him is giving him a good pop shot. I say their is no excuse for the old man being a bitch bout his lawn. Thats just the result of him being very off. The kid was in the wrong, but it's still doesn't justify him getting killed. Next thing you know people will be saying it's alright to kill someone if you challenge him to a fight and he beats yo ass.

But really, it is the parents fault. They failed to raise a child who is respectful of his neighbors. They also raised a bully. Constantly engaging in passive-aggressive behavior like continuing to trespass over another’s property especially when you know it’s going to push the guy’s hot button is no better than stealing some little kid’s lunch money.
