what exactly do YOU think pac did for american society?

thats like saying Andy Warhol did nothing for American society.

-he contributed to the arts greatly through music, poetry, and film
-he was one of the first rappers to write personal yet positive rap-songs about society (i.e brenda's got a baby & dear mama)
-he was a pollitical figure, theres plenty of footage around of him making pro-black speaches.
-he contributed to his communities, so much so that he let people from the street stay in his house.
-he was a revolitionary..as in he changed the way both black and white people with in society think
-he was a brillant debater, and had the ability to convey his point across very strongly


thats not to say he was without flaw, but as he said he was like "the rose that grew from concrete"

So far in my lifetime I can't think of anyone who's had a bigger impact on society that Tupac. I mean mohammed ali, frank sinatra, elvis and malcom X were never alive when I was. Pac is the GOAT no doubts.

And I think the teacher is right. 2Pac affected certain people - namely fans - but his effect on society was far from profound.

Elvis, while bringing rock & roll to the masses and thus helping to shape the next decades which has an effect on society to this day, should've been laughed at as well.

As should Frank Sinatra.

Many People may change the world a little bit, Perhaps Hitler's grandfather, or Father, , Cousin, Friend etc... somehow provoked Hitler to become the man he became, (Not a good comparision, but i hope you see where im going with this).

Or For example A friend of Ghandi's, or a relative some how motivated Ghandi to be what he was... Same goes with every historical figure, Malcom X, MLK, FDR, Edison, Tesla, B. Franklin, Machiavelli, Napoleon, Charlemane, etccccc...

All Historical figures are people, just like me and you, the difference is the path they took in life, the way they observed the world, and from those observations made their own ideas, and got lucky enough to be able to be noticed. 2pac is no different, he observed, maybe had some interesting conversations growing up with people, and with that came his own ideas and he decided to express them, but also was lucky enough to express them. And with those ideas he had a talent, his personality. Just like other historical figures had talents, in mathematical senses, social senses, or warlike senses etc.

Right now he is not on the same level as many American or world House hold historical names, or even classroom orientated names; however, that doesnt mean that cant change, you do have to realize its only been 9 years after his death, it usually takes quite awhile for someones work to be appriciated (maybe 100years +) or to be able to see on the grander scale what that person did for society. Just like Historical figures were influenced, 2pac Has the same potential to influence a house hold named historical figure.

seriously, i see pac fans talking a bunch about how he changed the world, but they can never get beyond that. pac was a musician, and his music was used to provoke thought. pac was not an activist, a politician, or the traditional personality whom someone regards as a changer. mohammed ali changed america by refusing the draft and giving power to muslims in america with his refusal to acknowledge his former name, malcolm x and mlk obviously changed america quite a bit, and i think it cheapens their phlights to pair them in the same catagory as entertainers. pac had a voice, but at the end of the day he was a rap musician and not a social activist. i think your teacher is partially right, and you are as well.

pac definitely had potential as a future activist, but until the moment he died he was more of a commentator on the circumstances of the traditional american poor black youth.

You're right but you fail to realize when most black people get some fame they shy away from stuff that might get them into trouble like when Pac was going and speaking at the Malcolm X dinners and just speaking out against the gov't so you asked what did he do he spoke up for alot of people meaning if you're not one it's all good but not just taking shit and dealing with it because it don't affect him cause he got money but saying the youth is in trouble and no one else is going to help them not the gov't or anyone we take the inniative to do so he gave the people who people say wouldn't be shit cause we got into trouble some hope so look at his AMBITION
