This is gonna sound kinda wierd, but I feel like I have lost all direction in my life. I got sacked from my job at Christmas, but then I think about it and I was having doubts bout whether that was what I wanted to do anyway, I'm 18 and its startin to get me down, its like I look around and everyone else around me has their shit sorted and I just can't figure out what it is I want. I no that I love music and being creative. Thinking of going over to LA to see relatives and see if being in a different country can bring me some inspiration??? Anyone have any advice I'd appreciate your feedback.

I think most people feel lost from time to time, about the job situation, why not go to a careers advisor?

What you're describing happens to EVERYONE at some point in their life. You will have to face more uncertainty in the future as well. It's called life. All you have to do is be patient and if you're good to yourself, and to life, everything will work out. As far as leaving your country to go to LA, go ahead, you might as well give it a try.

just remind yourself that someone else isnt as fortunate as you are in this world...

i had it pretty bad last year. i ended up calling in sick to work after eating a 1/2 oz of mushrooms, and was canned the very next day because my message sounded like something outta fear and loathing. my dad had close ties with my boss, and a fight about this escaladed on christmas day. i couldnt afford to pay my car insurance anymore, and had no mode of transportation to school. i ended up dropping out. on top of that i got kicked out of my house cause my mom found drugs in my pant pocket when doing the laundry...

but a year later im back in school, still dont have a job or car, but im happy. if you feel like going over to LA for inspiration then it may be something to consider, but i would personally give it a little more of time. enjoy the company of your friends, try some volunteering, and keep those creative juices flowing.

just keep your head up in the meantime and remember that life is what you make of it.

to tell you da truth i feel exactly the same i mean i'm 18 and i make music and go college, i wanted to be in the music industry mainly but i was told how the industry works and about the debt it gives out and that put me off doin it, now i'm unsure because i still love music but what i hate the most is that im 18 and im not even makin the major moves i wanted to make that i planned to do from when i was 16 i'm jus slowly drinkin watchin my life fly by... it's a dam shame

You can love music without having to pursue a career in it.
This job you were in, was it something serious that you actually wanted to do or your were doing it because you needed the money?

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. But, sometimes things happen for a reason. If you weren't that satisfied with it, then this is really an opportunity to find something that you do like, and it's better that you find this out now, so that you don't waste your life away doing something you dont enjoy.

I think travelling around would be a great way of finding out what it is you wanna do. Whether its LA, or some other place overseas, being in a different environment and meeting new people is a good way to open your eyes to possibilities that you may not think of, or may not have available at home. And you are 18, so that's a great age to be out, seeing the world - really there is no rush to find a career, or get "your shit sorted" - why not enjoy life a bit first. :)

My advice is you need change. Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm 25 and still not feeling sure where I'm going in life, and I know there's people older than me still searching. Your still very young and have the whole world ahead of you.
