Looks vs Fashion

Which is better - being fashionable or being pretty? Which are other people (male or female) more responsive to - a persons looks or their dress sense?

Of course it's easy to say both but I wonder if we had to choose between them, what would we say and if we consider the people we notice on the street or how we conduct ourselves, which do we pay more attention to?

i dont know, thats a hard one. bcuz if theres a pretty girl but her clothes look bad and her hairs all daggy then its a shame. but then when theres a not as attractive girl who dresses and looks nice, u can still see through it. but all in all, i think people respond more to ur fashion bcuz at first glance its like a statement of ur style. like a guy see's a girl wearing a skanky outfit he'll holler before he even notices her face but maybe wouldnt if the girl happened to be attractive but was wearing really large clothes that hid her body. in a material world, ur fashion is like part of the whole package of ur look/attractiveness and it can give or take away from it. i kinda rambled through this, im tired sorry

that's a tough one.....i'd have to say pretty because alot of pretty girls/guys can where whatever they want and still look good. it's not what you wear its how you wear it.

Well money could buy you beauty with surgery. lol

BUT do we pay more attention to one than the other? ... I tend to think along the lines of what lii said that what is striking about a person at first glance is fashion to the extent that I think a lot of beautiful people are overlooked because their clothes arent fashionable and conversely the people that you stop and stare at or would rate highly is more to do with their fashion sense than their particular natural beauty.

It's funny when I look for instance at footballers wives (aussie rules footballers wives), they arent necessarily beautiful women but they dressed immaculately, super fashionable, hair and makeup in latest trends... and pretty much thats the only edge they'd have over anyone else. And that's pretty much how it is - fashionable but average looking women I think would be rated higher by men and women rather than a girl with a pretty face but shitty dress sense.
