I love to see these people speaking on London walk the streets of East and South London at night...

I've done it mate, and trust me, it wouldn't make enthralling viewing.

I have relatives down there, around Barking way and i also have friends in Southall. Sure it's rough but if you've any street sense it's no rougher than Manchester, Liverpool or even Blackpool on a saturday night. There's idiots everywhere. The only difference with down London way is that there seems to be more racial tension, doesn't mean your gonna get assaulted or stabbed or anything.

Where in London you at then?

Comparison of U.S. gun homicides to other industrialized countries:
In 1998 (the most recent year for which this data has been compiled), handguns murdered:

* 373 people in Germany
* 151 people in Canada
* 57 people in Australia
* 19 people in Japan
* 54 people in England and Wales, and
* 11,789 people in the United States

Your country doesn't scare me.

It shouldn't do, we are one of the safest, friendliest countries in the world. Like anywhere there's areas you take a bit more care in than others but essentially we do ok, mainly due to the fact that posessing a gun is 100% illegal and 90% recognise how dangerous they are. Unlike the Land of the Free(dom Fries)...

Jibster, two good posts in a row :thumb: I'd rep you, but you know.

Taliq, where in Manchester are you based? My mate is looking at flats around Salford Quays and Deansgate and might be moving with him. I love Manchester, full of decent bars, clubs, shops and places to work.

HOW ARE YOU HARD IF YOU SHOOT SOMEONE?
guns are for cowards, out here they fight with their fists or knives, also take into account size of your population against ours. Your gun friendly community has killed thousands of your own citizens, too trigger happy for your own good.

Jibster, and Im from Essex (just outside London) but often in the east end watchin West Ham (football team), so Barking, East Ham, Islington and so on and have seen some fucked up shit there lol. The worst places in the UK are Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow along with London from my own knowledge.

Yeah, my relatives are moving out currently, they're heading to Romford cos Barking is so full of immigrants now it's like playing spot the white man down there. They aren't racist but it's upsetting for them cos my Dad's side of the family have deep roots in that area, my old man grew up on the Gascoigne estate back during the war before he moved up here and he just doesn't recognise it anymore.

Manchester centre is ok along with all the uni areas but some of the council estates surrounding it are pretty rough. Lad i work with is from a Stockport coucil estate and i went on night out with him there and it was a lot more intimidating than Barking, Croydon or the City of London.

really? I heard it got real nasty up there!
lol, i heard it's worse down south!
it's not that bad, Mannys alright. i been spending a lot of time in Preston, and i think that's worse!

I read or heard somewhere that London is now 'officially' more dangerous than New York in terms of crime statistics and stuff. Cant be bothered to check it myself, not sure how much truth there is to that.

in '98 Brazil had 22.000+ homicides today this number is around 30.000.

Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro alone take 12.000 off the 1998 total

handguns are 78% of the crimes
you shold come to Brazil to learn something about violence

and im not proud of it...im just stating some sad and bad thing about where i live

I watch this programe on gangs in Brazil, its fucked up there. The ogs get kids as young as 10(ish) to do their dirty work. They filmed some footage of these teenagers have a shoot out. The programe was filmed in Rio I think.
