A few minutes ago I was searching for shit about the joke with Katrina, about Bush on Roe vs. Wade (what's his position? he doesn't care how people get out) and seen there was a CNN article on it. read it and everything but lol @ this part, left me like wtf and 'this seems real professional' ..

"..... Any notion of taboos crumbled when comic D.L. Hughley, on his late-night Comedy Central show last weekend, took on looters who had stolen electronic equipment in a flooded city with no power.

"What are you going to do with a 42-inch plasma TV? Drag it to the roof?" he said. "Take me back! I forgot my remote!"

He also noted how many New Orleans residents were religious, and chose to stay behind while putting their faith in God: "Sometimes God sends the weatherman to say there's a Level 5 hurricane. Sometimes Al Roker is God."

Hughley, who is black, can get away with jokes that would raise eyebrows if told by white comedians. In an interview, he said one of his staff members had asked if it was too soon to laugh at Katrina. ....."

and nothing before/after is related

If you're Black, it's OK to make fun of your own people. That's why Blacks call each other "nigga" and don't get offended. YAY!

When Blacks make fun of whites it's Ok because White people don't seem to mind for some reason.
It's, at least sometimes, more a case of whites being afraid to criticise black comedians lest they be accused of racism. Same with Jewish comedians doing gags about 'gentiles', albeit to a lesser extent.

Yeah white people never say what they feel. They bottle it up for fear of being scrutinized for being politicaly incorrect. But we all know they talk about minorities when when not around. :)

He didnt say anything bout race, maybe he was directing it to blacks since New Orleans is predominently black but maybe he means just everyone that lives there, aint the stereotype for New Orleans and The South on a whole just hilbillies, hicks and people of low intelligence, i could be wrong but maybe he was basing the joke on that sterotype, or maybe it was just a joke that was directed to everyone that stayed in New Orleans in the hurricane, either way, even if its a joke and it is funny, i dont think its right to be saying at this point in time, people are dying down there in N O, people have lost there family members and friends, also, theres gonna be a hurricane in Texas, so this is basically the wrong time to capitalize on situation with a joke.
