Non-Urban Music Live Prince???

#1
I'm not as knowledgable a Prince fan as you, Militant, so maybe you can answer this. Has Prince ever officially put out any live records at all? There are most likely bootlegs flying around from him all the way back to 1999-era, but I just watched the Sign O' the Times concert movie, and his live version of "The Cross" was so much better than the album version. In fact, the whole movie was better than the album, IMO (I know we've had the Purple Rain/Sign O' the Times argument before, so I'll spare you, dogg;)

If anybody knew about this topic, it'd be you, Militant.

LOL! Bootlegs going back to the 1999 era? Dogg, 1999 came out in 1982.... I have bootlegs dating back to 1976 - some of the first recorded material he ever did.

The best live stuff IS on the bootlegs. Prince hasn't released a whole lot of live stuff, there was the One Night Alone... live 3 CD boxset and the One Night Alone...solo piano and voice CD that came out in 2001, but that all has a jazzier feel to it than any of the 80's material.

The Sign O The Times concert movie IS absolutely brilliant, some of it I do prefer to the album (the If I Was Your Girlfriend gets me everytime), but some of it I prefer the album versions (Housequake for example), plus some of my favorite cuts from the album didn't even make it on the movie (Strange Relationship )....

But if there's any bootlegs you want, I can most certainly hook you up. Any era, any year, any band, I can get it all. Was there something in particular you were looking for?
