I bought vince-young.com and then the university of texas asked me to take it down so he could retain his eligibility. So I did it, now it forwards it to a godaddy.com name holder page. tonight i get another email saying this

Dear Mr. Short,

Thank you for your email and action taken in response to the website that you created (http://vince-young.com) that was contrary to the provisions of NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.2 (Use of Student-Athlete’s Name or Picture without Knowledge or Permission).

Upon confirming that the site had been taken down, I noticed that a promotional ad for GoDaddy.com is now in place of the original website. In the event that you are not aware, NCAA regulations state that the name, picture or autograph of a student-athlete may not be used for private sale, profit or to promote a commercial entity in that it jeopardizes the student-athlete’s amateur status.

As previously stated, in accordance with NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.2 (Use of Student-Athlete’s Name or Picture without Knowledge or Permission) if a student-athlete’s name or picture appears on commercial items or is used to promote a commercial product sold by an individual or agency without the student-athlete’s knowledge or permission, the student-athlete (or the institution acting on behalf of the student-athlete) is required to take steps to stop such activity in order for the student-athlete to retain his or her eligibility for intercollegiate athletics.

As such, the institution, on behalf of Mr. Young, respectfully requests that you immediately cease and desist the use of Mr. Young’s name on GoDaddy.com and remove in its entirety the webpage from GoDaddy.com so that Mr. Young’s eligibility for competition with our institution may be retained. As a point of reference, when the web address is typed in, a message stating “The page you requested no longer exists” should appear.

In order to remedy this matter, please provide me written assurance that you have completely removed the website from GoDaddy.com. I appreciate your cooperation.

Now I dont feel like i should have to cancel my account and lsoe money just because it forwards to godaddy. Its jsut the name.

can't you make the page blank? I mean you bought it, so you own it. How many Vince Youngs are there in the world? He could also make the name Vinceyoung.com. You could also sell them the name :)
