Alert: Lil Wayne haters need not enter.
Why no thread on this yet? This is fire! If this is any hint as to how The Carter III will be, I will be a happy man.
This is such a progression from where the Carter series started beat-wise. The Carter I was definitely Southern-based. With the departure of Mannie Fresh, The Carter II was partly southern and sampled heat. The Carter III mixtape is filled with deeper tracks than the previous two installments and more superstar producers. Kanye, Timbaland, Rockwilder, and others got beats on this mixtape. There are some hot samples on this including Heart's 'What About Love' and they even sampled the Beatles 'Help'!
And lyrically...Weezy has been where he's been since the Carter series started. But it seems that while he's still on that gutter gutter, he has matured a bit and got some deep tracks. I suggest 'Something You Forgot' or 'World of Fantasy'.
