Lil Kim pre-prison reality show to air in March

Following in the footsteps of many musicians in recent years, Kimberly Jones (aka Lil Kim) will soon be on a TV near you. BET will start screening her reality series, Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown, into homes as of next month.

The show is comprised of six half-hour episodes that show Kim’s activities before beginning her sentence, with exclusive footage of the Queen Bee partying, filming music videos, attending fashion shoots and preparing mentally and physically for jail.

Kim began serving her 366 day prison term last September. After a trial concerning a 2001 shooting that occurred outside hip-hop radio station Hot 97, she was convicted of conspiracy and perjury. Even though she has not fulfilled even half of the time required, her new video for ‘Whoa’ has recently been given heavy air-time on BET.

BET President, Reginald Hudlin said “It's a very serious look at her life and her choices, and the consequences of those choices” in response to claims that the BET show is glamorizing perjury and jail time. Hudlin called it “An absurd and tragic and Fellini-esque situation"

Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown premieres March 9th.
