Lil Flip got arrested recently on a felony charge after after allegedly purchasing a plane ticket with another man's American Express credit card.
Authorities claim that on June 8, Flip (who was born Wesley Eric Weston, Jr.), bought a $671 Southwest Airlines ticket to Baltimore from Houston, with a credit card owned by a man named Jordan Salinger. According to court documents Salinger did not authorize the purchase.
Flip, who says that he is innocent, told authorities that a man named Kevin Frank bought the ticket in question. Frank denies making the purchase and claims to not know the rapper.
According to court papers, the man who bought the ticket only went by the name of "Wesley" (Flip's government name) on the phone.
Flip turned himself in to the authorities on Saturday afternoon (July 21) and was released shortly after on a $2,000 bond.
Quanell X, a community activist defended the rapper to the Houston Chronicle. "It has more to do with people around him, and not the man himself," he said. "The man is not a criminal; he's never been in trouble."
Flip is scheduled to appear in court July 23rd.
