When they won back to back to back, they had Shaq, Kobe, Rick Fox, and the likes of players like that. The players they have this year are nowhere near as good. Now look at the 94-95 Bulls. Along with Pippen, they had Armstrong, Grant, Kukoc, all top notch position players. Now, I'm not knocking Scottie, He's always been one of my favorite players, but he didn't do it all by himself. If Kobe had the same team the Lakers had in 2002-03 minus Shaq, they'd be doing a hell of a lot better this season.

Pippen was great. I'm not sure if he could score like Kobe, or be the dominant slasher on his team like Kobe has been for the past five years or so. And they're great defenders, both of them, so it's pretty tough to tell. Plus, people take for granted that Kobe's best years are behind him now that Shaq's gone. The Lakers have lots of money, and they'll probably be very good again within the next three years.

scottie falls under the category of kevin mchale, robert parrish, and all them - really good players, but great players with jordan or bird or whoever. just look at how fast scottie fell off when michael retired the final time. i'm not hatin on scottie, but he doesn't belong on the pedastal you're putting him on. he's a level 2 player - a hall of famer, but not a legend.

as for kobe, he's not the same type of player as scottie was, so it's hard to decide. personally, i'd take scottie over him if i was building a team, but i wouldn't argue with anyone who chose differently. two different kinds of players.

plus the only starter they have from last year is kobe, they're all learning how to play with each other, they've been trying to learn the triangle in the middle of the season, and they're coach quit on them in the middle of the season
