no were not agents of the devil, rather throughout history it;s been encouraged by alot of religions to do 'bad' or 'dirty' (please don't misconstrue this ) things with your left hand and do pure and clean things with your right hand.

There are practical reasons for why left handers were deounced too.

For example, in medieval times when knights would meet, they would shake hands.

Now - the majority of people were right handed - they shook with their right hands & thus, with their hand engaged, treachery would be difficult.....unless you were left handed, at which point you whip out your sword & betray the trust shown to you.
