Lebanese

If you were born to human beings who were originally from Lebanon, and you have lived all your life outside Lebanon and never was handed down the actual Lebanese culture and heritage then you are not Lebanese.

Possibly true, but the lebanese culture can be handed down by the community if the community consists of mostly lebanese people. It's been my experience that when people leave their home countries they become much more concerned with holding on to their heritage.

Sure but from what I experienced in Ottawa, Canada... the Lebanese community there left during the war... and they took that hatred and evolved it into something even worse..

I think no matter how hard you try, you can not pass down the Lebanese culture to your children if you live outside of Lebanon. Because I have cousins in the US who are well, 100% American... they really have no Lebanese culture.. perhaps their parents didn't try enough? or they tried and failed? Either way, im not saying being American is bad.. I hope to raise my children in the States but what am I saying is.. if I do raise my children in the States, I will not or can not teach them they are Lebanese.. because the States are protecting them.. not Lebanon... they are not living in Lebanon, and therefore they can not be Lebanese.. they are (will be) Americans, U.S Citizens... U.S residents.. and if they must feel any love and duty to.. it should be the U.S and not Lebanon .. again why?

They have never been to Lebanon, nor will they ever be able to embrace the culture because they are not there...

Once again I stress.. Lebanese in Australia are not Lebanese.. they do not know shit about Lebanon, and they did not experience what we experienced the past three decades.. (I am talking about the "Lebanese" who are born to Lebanese parents but never ever been to Lebanon ofcourse)

Just because your Parents are Lebanese does not mean there are some "genetic information" that will be passed down making you Lebanese and giving you the Lebanese culuture simply by birth.. If you are a rapist and a killer and a bastard and you live in Australia.. and you happen to have parents who actually are from Lebanon.. well you're going to blame the Lebanese culuture, and not the enviroment they live in and the way their parents raised them?

That's a bit... odd isn't it?

There are more Lebanese outside of Lebanon than in Lebanon but I do not view them as Lebanese... if they haven't been here in decades, and their children have never been here and they really never have plans of coming here... maybe one summer as a tourist... or whatever... how does that make them Lebanese?
