That came out in '95, right? There's been a few classic rock albums since then - one that immediately springs to mind is Rage Against The Machine's "The Battle Of Los Angeles".

I don't think "Battle for Los Angeles" was as good as "Evil Empire", but that's just my opinion.

System of a Down put out two solid records last year, but both had quite a bit of filler, if they could've whittled it down to one disc, it could have been a classic, IMO.

In the last four-five years, only two really come to mind, for completely different reasons:

Audioslave-s/t (One of the hardest-rocking mainstream records, as hard as anything Monster Magnet or Turbonegro's put out recently, but overall, a much better record. Not really a bad track, and the sonic boom of "Cochise" especially really brought a Rage Against the...vibe to it, it's a shame they toned it down so much for their last album.

Green Day-American Idiot-I don't exactly agree with their political motivation on this, they pretty much put this record out when most bands were making their anti-Bush statements, and the way they pretty much slogged America on Canadian tv during their promo for this, just annoyed me more than anything. That being said, the way they sequenced, and structured this record, really made it feel like a fully-realized album, instead of just a collection of songs. Very Who-esqe rock opera tunes in it as well, especially "Homecoming".

I would have to go with

Green Day - "American Idiot" (2004)
Audioslave - "Audioslave" (2002)
System of A Down - "Toxicity" (2001)
Rage Against The Machine - "The Battle For Los Angeles" (1999)
System of A Down - "System of A Down" (1998)

Those are in my opinion the last great classic rock albums to come out in the past 8 years. The last one being American Idiot.

I'd say Disturbed - The Sickness. Quality from start to finish.

I'd also put forward Chocolate Starfish & The Hot Dog Flavored Water by Limp Bizkit - that album is probably the defining point of the nu-metal movement.

Not forgetting "Hybrid Theory" by Limp Bizkit either, or NIN's "The Fragile"..
