Hip-hop pioneer and scratch-innovator DJ Kool Herc has recently released a new clothing label called Sedgwick & Cedar. The clothes focus on early hip-hop culture with jackets, t-shirts and hoodies displaying classic hip-hop art work.
Sedgwick & Cedar CEO, Ray Ricco said “Sedgwick & Cedar is a company that relates to the new movement in the market where consumers want special product that not only has outstanding design detail and graphics but has deep meaning.”
When the clothes were premiered at the Magic International Fashion Show, the brand received two hundred national and one hundred international orders. Other contributors to the foundations of hip-hop, such as Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Sha-rock and Busy Bee performed at the show, which included renditions of anthem classics like ‘The Message’ and ‘Rappers Delight’.
The popularity of Sedgwick & Cedar caught the company off guard; they struggled to meet the high demand and are now working over time to fill orders.
