Always the envelope-pusher, Kanye West clearly eclipses his “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” shocker with the arrival of next month’s Rolling Stone, which features the Grammy-nominated artist posing on the cover as Jesus Christ.

The photo features West wearing a crown of thorns atop his head, reports AP, while inside the magazine, he is also pictured posing as legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

In the Rolling Stone interview, West continues to defend his willingness to lavish praise upon himself.

"In America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts," he says. "You want me to be great, but you don't ever want me to say I'm great?"

Nominated for eight Grammy awards, including album of the year for his sophomore album, Late Registration, West notes that his hit song "Gold Digger" was the best song of 2005 and should have been nominated in the Grammy's best rap song category: "That's a gimme Grammy."

The 27-year-old also pulls a Kirk Franklin in the interview and reveals that he is addicted to porn. He says the die was cast at age 5, when he stumbled across his father’s Playboy magazine.

"Right then," he says, laughing, "it was like, ‘Houston, we have a problem.’”

2pac did the same thing on the cover of Makaveli 7 Days Theory and NaS did it too in "Hate Me Now" video...I'm not shocked, they just wanted to cause the controversy.

addicted to porn... lol... i like kanye and so should all pac fans... he gives it up to him in the song "Bring Me Down" when he says "since pac passed away, most you rappers don't even deserve a track from me." He's cocky and has good reason to be.

I'm a big Kanye fan, even though he has his critics. The fact that he recorded 3 videos for Jesus walks suggests to me that this isn't a publicity stunt, although if there are thin waters to tread in music religion is deinately one of them. Didn't Diddy have a video pulled for re-enacting himself as Jesus on the crucifix. Mighta been PE No1 or something around that time.
As for blowing his own trumpet, the man's a multi-award winner at just 27. Muhammed Ali was the most egotistical interviewee of all time but he is a legend regardless.

It wasnt just Jesus that had those thorns on his head, although its most significant to Jesus. I dont really give a shit who he poses as Late Reg. was a dope album. Good point with Ali too, I dont think theres anyone who could be AS cocky as Ali was.

If Kanye is a proper christian like he claims he wouldn't be doing this blasphemy. Its disrespectful.
Using his God's name in vain... If anything he is idolising his son, which suggests to me he is encouraging anything but blasphemy.
Be this a publicity stunt or outright disresepct, however you look at it it is attracting attention, good and bad, thus rolling stone benefits, Kanye gets more free publicity and we get to moan and defend him.
Good shout on Nas Hate me now too, thanks.
