Kanye West and Common are to headline the Lollapalooza festival, which will be held August 4-6 in Chicago's Grant Park. Lady Sovereign will also be present.

Tickets for the show are on sale, with the first tranche of three-day passes priced at $130 (plus $15 service charge). After supplies have run out, prices will rise to $140 and then $150.

Despite oppressive heat, more than 30,000 attended each day of last year's two-day Lollapalooza in Grant Park. It was the first stationary event in the event's history, which stretches back to the first tour in 1991 when Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell's band, Jane's Addiction, served as headliner.

When they got Kanye and Common to headline instead of a gay ass punk band.
lollapalooza was never about just rock bands or punk bands. the headliners where just the performers on the main stage. it was always whoever was popular at the momemt. when i went in 97 snoop dogg was one of the headliners. other headliners where the rock/techno band prodigy, korn, tool.
