After a whirl-wind of promotion for the album, Jay-Z's comeback LP Kingdome Come is set to break first-week sales records for 2006 and will land at #1 on the charts come next week.

Riding the wave of a strong performance at the recent American Music Awards and an unprecedented "Hangar Tour," which included seven shows in less than 24 hours in Atlanta, Philadelphia, DC, New Jersey, Chicago, L.A. and Las Vegas, Jay-Z will finally be seeing the fruits of his labors once next week's charts are released.

Apparently the "Mike Jordan of recording" can still ball, with sales of his latest disc projected to reach 850,000 units by next week, according to HitsDailyDouble.com. Jigga's totals would clearly beat out the old record for the year held by the Rascal Flatts, who debuted with 714,000 records sold in their first week on shelves this past April.

In related news, Jay has also recently become the #1 on-demand artist ever on Clear Channel Radio, with 600,000 plays over the past week on more than 220 station websites. As previously reported by SOHH, the Brooklyn-bred MC partnered with Clear Channel stations Power 105 and Z100 in New York last week to give fans an exclusive opportunity to listen to the album in its entirety before its release date.

Kingdom Come is in stores now on Def Jam Records.

i don't think that's gonna play a part, since it's a DVD. but like you said, i hate that soundscan counts double discs as 2 units. i mean, it's only ONE copy; it should only count as one.

terrible, terrible beats on that album and it sounds like Jay-Z got a little rusty. He should of "stayed" in Retirement. The only good song worth bumpin is "lost one".

With soundscan, if the CD is LONGER than 100 minutes, its counted TWICE. Alot of rappers should use this to their advantage and drop another cd and make it a double album.

are you sure? that seems like a ridiculoulsy inacurrate way of determining record sales. So if like, Eminem Show had a DVD, its sales would have been absolutely insanely unheard of? If Game did that he technically would have been at like, 700k? Thats pretty gay.

Did anyone actually buy the album? Even the regular edition (without the DVD) comes with a bonus disc, live versions of Politics As Usual, Can't Knock The Hustle, & Can I Live.

Yup. Well its the RIAA that does that, which is where soundscan get it, so same thing, no.

And no, with dvds it doesnt work. If the album had more than 100 minutes of audio, then its counted twice. So Tupac's greatest hits, that sold like 9 million, really only sold 4.5.

Multi-disc albums are counted once for each disc within the album, if the album is 100 minutes or more in total length. For example, each copy of OutKast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (total time 134:56) and Shania Twain's Up! (145:44), both double albums, was counted twice, meaning each album was certified diamond after only 5 million copies were shipped; however, each copy of Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics will only count once despite its being a double album, as its total time is only 78:55.
