Why do they fucking rock? lol. I'm tired of the bullshit game shows here in North America. Pseudo-Intellectual bullshit like 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?'

The Japanese make you sit in a freezing room for 5 mins while staring at a warm bowl of soup like in Takeshi's Castle. Now that's entertainment.

Here are good examples.

Japanese game shows are the best by so many miles. That silent library episode is awesome, human tetris is awesome (lmao @ Hong Man Choi breaking the board. Twice). And LMAO @ fast-speak-ball-whip, LMAO.

I like this:

that's coolness, my favorite ones:

NOTHING compares to Japanese GAME shows. Not Western game shows, not Japanese prank shows, nothing.

Because the contestants are actually the funniest :)

You get Wipe Out in a lot of countries, Im sure there was a Canadian one, but they are all filmed at the same course in Argentina.

But the UK version kicks ass, because its hosted by Richard Hammond, the only celebrity to crash a car at over 400Mph and live to tell the tale!

(Yes 400Mph)

Pseudo-Intellectual bullshit like 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?'

And 'Deal or No Deal' .. that's not even a game. It just tits and made up drama.

The first three aren't really game shows but 'variety shows' aimed to make you laugh with their absurdism. You'll still find dumb shows in Japan, so you get Japanese people saying "I wish we had shows like that here" when they watch American or British TV.

The first and third video are from Downtown's Gaki no tsukai arahende. There really isn't anybody like them in the Japanese 'owarai' scene. I sense that a lot of it can be traced back to influences like Monty Python.
