The aim of the J.A.M. awards is to show the positive effect of rap and social responsibility, promoting the vision of justice, art and music
The first J.A.M awards were held this year on November 29 in New York’s “Hammerstein Ballroom”. The event featured performances by Snoop Dogg, De La Soul and Q-Tip.
Amongst the nominations were Marley Marl, Mobb Deep, Talib Kweli and Raekwon, whilst the hosts of the ceremony were Run DMC.
The aim of these awards is to show the positive aspect of ram and social responsibility, promoting the vision of justice, art and music of the deceased De La Soul.
Profits from the tickets went to “The Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music”, which was founded by Jam’s wife Terri Corley – Mizell and Run DMC, with the aim of bringing music and art to rural and urban schools.
