Film & TV isiah tells ailin houston to consider retirement

#1
i dont think you should make comments like this publicly because it makes player feel unwanted...but of course, coming from isiah  i have no more respect for him

"Isiah Thomas is not convinced Allan Houston will ever be an All-Star caliber player again and hinted that early retirement is an option Houston may want to consider.

Thomas, the Knicks president, didn't totally dismiss the idea of Houston hanging them up before his contract, which runs through the 2006-07 season, expires. Asked during a conference call yesterday if Houston's condition - chronic knee pain - could reach a point where the Knicks ask their veteran shooting guard to retire, Thomas said: "I think Allan has to make the decision himself in terms of retiring. That's a question that only the player can answer. That's probably a good question for you to ask him. As an organization we'll continue to support him and try to help him overcome his injuries."

Houston appeared disappointed by Thomas' evaluation but declined to comment. He did, however, say that he had no intentions of retiring and that he is confident he will be a productive player again. Houston's agent, William Strickland, said yesterday that he and his client have never discussed retirement."

It's amazing how quickly people forget what you did for them......I mean, Spree and Allen put the knicks on their shoulders and went to the Finals. 3 Years later, they traded Spree, wasn't good enough no more and they keep puttin down Allen....well. Nobody is thankful these days.

It's really not about that, The Knicks former President signed an out of his prime Houston to a fat ass contract that just added to more over-paid contracts to go with their cap, and Isiah had to trade some of those people away, and can't even trade people away (I.E. Houston) because no one is gonna take a huge contract like that, along with Houston's occuring injuries and age. What Isiah is really trying to say if he wants to help the Knicks to win, retire. so we can get some cap space. It's business, I mean you don't think the Hawks were thankful for Wilkins putting people in those seats for those years, but age came he was out of his prime so he went to the Clippers, It's business. Same goes for a lot of stars in all the leagues, Jerry Rice - Oakland, Marcus Allen - Kansas City, Kurt Warner - Giants. ect.

Allen HOuston didnt do shit for Isaih, he's been on the bench in street clothes for the last 10 centuries while guys with less than $97 million dollar contracts are out there playing ball

Allen has meant alot for this team over the years and it would be a sad day to see him go, but retirement was created for a reason and Allen Houstons 2005 stats are not an exception...

and about Spree, I thought he got traded because he wanted a larger contract and Layden didnt have the money to shell out and figured he might as well get something in return (van horn) instead of letting him walk

I think Houston is a lil washed up, but I couldn't agree with that comment right there anymore, you cant make a guy retire especially somebody that did so much for your franchise, he might not of brought a ring but he came close enoughand if the knicks had drafted somebody to back up Ewing earlier on, who knows where they coulda gone
