Is anyone really offended by ******mas?

i've always wondered myself if, when i have kids, i should tell them the truth that there is no Santa and that it's just a made up story, or go along with everyone else and lie to him/her. cuz i remember what it was like finding out that there was no Santa, that shit hurt :( but at the same time i suppose that would piss off a LOT of parents when my kid goes around telling their friends that it's all a lie lol

edit: BTW, who censored the thread title? nice touch lol

Who cares. They'd be mad but at the same time...they're the one's who aren't being honest. SO technically, according to society, they are the one's in the wrong...because lies are bad, right? lol

they might be the ones in the wrong, but that doesn't mean i want phone calls and visits from angry parents who want to hurt me cuz my kid ruined Christmas for them lol

Is anyone really offended by Christmas?

oh trust me i agree and this extreme p.c. shit pisses me off.

but in the case of the rabbi he didnt want to hide anything that had to do with xmas he wanted their to be symbols that represented all faiths for this season. i agree though hiding one religion to avoid offending a person of another religion is dumb as all hell. in a public place like an airport where you have people of all faiths that pass through there during holiday seasons like this why not put something out for all religions that are celebrated this month? now if it were easter time and they put away some easter bunnys and eggs because they had a complaint i think that would be complete b.s.
i'm not sure if you misread my quote or if i misread this response to it, but i was agreeing with you about the rabbi and his idea that all faiths should be represented. i don't know about him threatening to sue over it, but he has the right idea. instead of censoring Christmas we should allow other faiths the right to have their traditions represented as well, in the same public areas that christians are allowed to display signs of their traditions. but of course when the country you live in is predominantly christian, can you really expect anything other than that faith's biggest holiday getting shoved down your throat?

it's almost funny though when you think about it, could you imagine if Jews were told they couldn't display menorrahs in their businesses or offices? they would be screaming their heads off about discrimination and there would be such a backlash from it, it would be ridiculous. and yet we stand idly by while these politically correct assholes take Christmas away from us (although it is seen predominantly as a religious holiday, it is still celebrated by millions of people, myself included, without the religious connotation to it). it makes me sick.

So what if the child of a Muslim child sings a Christmas carol? I'm sure God rest ye Merry Gentlemen is a definite way to hellfire

Just the fact that Christmas charols are in celebration in the birth of Jesus. Who some christians believe is the son of God. Christmas charols also have lyrics in it stating "Jesus is the holy ghost" and "God is his father" blah blah blah.. This is obviously contradictory to Islamic beliefs and proclaiming God has a son is one of the major sins in Islams called 'Shirk'. so I dont think a Muslim child should be forced to sing a Christmas charol, nor should any Muslim parent encourage their children to sing it. But I do think ever Muslim, Chistian, Jew, or whatever parent should encourage knowledge about other religions and beliefs, and also instill values and morals so that they respect othe ppls beliefs. But I dont really see how singing Christmas charols does achieves anything other than assimilation into 'western'/'christian' culture so I personally wouldnt want my children to sing Christmas charols either (unless they come to a point in their life where they themselves believe in Christ).

As for being offended, nah that doesnt offend me, neither does anybody elses religious traditions... I just find it odd when I see ppl that dont believe in Christ celabrate Christmas, whether they're Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Athiest etc. doesnt matter, i just find it odd the whole year they talk about how Christmas is wrong, but they're the ones that are the most 'jolly' when Christmas comes around. Not everyone obviously just the ones that arent Christian but celebrate Christmas

Hope that some of you know Santa Clause is based off a Saint. So Santa ain't no lie, but he was commercialized for stupid little kids.

Anyways, fuck being politically correct.

Merry Christmas to all.

honestly. christmas does offend me a little. for one it's the lie of it all. i was bat shitting mad when i found out santa wasn't real. in fact that little revelation was the thing that sparked my questioning of religion and all back then.

then it's the way we maintain the lie. i seriously question if my kids are going to believe in some jolly fat man bringing them gifts. OR have then believe that it was daddy that busted his ass and sacrificed to get them that new xbox. that new bike. not some damn fat fool hanging with a bunch of fruity ass elfs.

so yeah, it bother me on that level.
santa has nuthin to do with religion and lol at the elf comment:laugh:

i never understood that whole political correctness. if i go in some muslim country, they are not going to put a goddamn christmas tree for me. and this is not racism, it's truth.

^^ well thats exactly what most Muslim countries get demonized for. But being in Canada or the United States; the 'model' countries for equality and freedom. You would think they would put up symbols of all the religions during the holiday season. To be honest it doesnt bother me, majority ppl are christian and they want christmas trees thats fine. I highly doubt anyone would stop Muslims or Jews from putting up there own religious symbols.

and honestly ive never noticed nor have i cared whether ppl say merry chrismas or happy holidays.. who really cares, let em say and celabrate what they want.

But I remember one time for jokes me and my boy, were saying "Happy Hanuka" on christmas day at work to customers, and ppl were getting pretty annoyed with us. They were like "ITS MERRY CHRISTMAS NOT HANUKA... TODAY IS CHRISTMAS!"

They need to put up atheist symbols, too. Like pics of Mother Goose and atomic symbols.

Surprisingly, not many people know this lol. I'm sure people heard of good ol' Saint Nick, not realizing he was a real man!

Don't celebrate, nor do I get offended by it. Although, it does bring back memories of me being a little kid and not getting gifts and going to school and hearing about what all the other kids got who celebrated chirstmas. Odd thing is, NOW my parents decide to get my little brother a gift because "all of the other kids are getting gifts", like they weren't getting them when I was a child. And now that they get christmas gifts for my bro, you'd think they'd get me somthing...lol...nope.
