i've been hearing this so much lately and over the last couple of years around this time. you can't put up Christmas trees in public or government buildings. you have to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. and on and on and on. all in the name of not offending anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas. but does anyone realy get offended by Christmas? for anyone on this board who does not celebrate Christmas, do you actually get offended by the site of a Christmas tree? or feel offended or insulted if someone tells you to have a merry Christmas instead of happy holidays? i've been wondering this for a while now and i have yet to meet anyone of any religion who actually gets offended by any of these things

I don't celebrate it cause I'm Muslim, but no I don't get offended by someone saying merry xmas or at the sight of a tree. If someone gets that easily offended maybe they should seek out their own personal island full of yupees who think just like they do.

Christmas doesnt offend me at all. its a great time of the year to be with family. i know not everybody gets to be with their family, your soldiers over in Iraq fighting.

But all in all its a great time of the year. (For most) but not everybody.

I've been thinking about this alot this Christmas (dont know why) but when I go anywhere, watch any TV something Christmas related always comes on. And really the few that complain about this we should ignore because we get away with alot considering how Christmas, Easter and any other Christian related holiday we celebrate with practicly no fuss. No other religion gets this kind of recognition and I'd say 1/2 the people who celebrate Christmas arnt even religious.

that man wasnt mad at the trees he just wanted the airport to put up things to represent other religions too. there is nothing wrong with that. a lot of people in the media but a bad spin on that whole thing. he didnt just want something to represent his religion but also something for others.

the thing that really gets me about the whole thing is department stores that tell their employees that they can not say merry christmas or they must say happy holidays instead or nothing at all.

By now, i think most if not all that know me know I'm Muslim. And, just like Kareem, I don't get offended by it at all. However, what gets to me is the way some Christians try to push down our throats.

I mean, I don't want my kid singing christmas carols in school, just like a christian doesn't want his kid reading the Quraan in school.

Other than that, you can say merry chrismas every day. it doesn't bother me.

but in the case of the rabbi he didnt want to hide anything that had to do with xmas he wanted their to be symbols that represented all faiths for this season. i agree though hiding one religion to avoid offending a person of another religion is dumb as all hell. in a public place like an airport where you have people of all faiths that pass through there during holiday seasons like this why not put something out for all religions that are celebrated this month? now if it were easter time and they put away some easter bunnys and eggs because they had a complaint i think that would be complete b.s.

honestly. christmas does offend me a little. for one it's the lie of it all. i was bat shitting mad when i found out santa wasn't real. in fact that little revelation was the thing that sparked my questioning of religion and all back then.

then it's the way we maintain the lie. i seriously question if my kids are going to believe in some jolly fat man bringing them gifts. OR have then believe that it was daddy that busted his ass and sacrificed to get them that new xbox. that new bike. not some damn fat fool hanging with a bunch of fruity ass elfs.

so yeah, it bother me on that level.

I'm not offended by Christmas nor do I celebrate it. I do have a problem with people who want to explain to me why I should celebrate simply because it's a tradition that they choose to follow. That annoys me more than anything in the world. I probably won't celebrate it with my children either because it's a holiday built off lies. I'm not going to tell my kids that some fat man is sliding down a chimney that I may or may not even have to leave them gifts...that's nuts.
