I dont mind Blink 182.

Just as an aside, where did the term "emo" come from? It's like it just popped out of nowhere one day and all these little teenagers were saying emo this and emo that.... I was like, what the fuck is emo.... you mean punk?! lol. I hate the word though! I guess that is a sign of getting older.... back in my day we didnt call it emo, we called it punk....

I believe emo is just short for "emo"tional punk. It's all pretty much poppy love songs.

As for recommendations, if you are not too PC or easily offended, you should definitely check out a group called Leftover Crack (formerly Choking Victim). They are a group of NYC squatter punks who sing songs about atheists who smoke crack and kill cops (in a nutshell). It's basically satano-political punk/ska. Like I said, if you are not easily offended or too religious, check out these tracks:

500 Channels (Choking Victim)
Atheist Anthem (Leftover Crack)
Infested (Leftover Crack)
Crack Rock Steady (Choking Victim)
Born To Die (Leftover Crack)
One Dead Cop (Leftover Crack)

Maybe someone out there will enjoy these.

Peace

Emo[tionally-driven hardcore punk]. It's not a very well-defiend 'genre'. Basically, anything that is introspective and 'emotional' gets labelled emo.

pfft.. emo souldn't even be used as a genre.. and no.. it isn't "lovey wahh wahh songs"

Emo is simply "emotional" as most would call it.. however, how can any music you put your heart and soul into, not be emotional? It's just a bullshit tag that people use cause they don't know where to fit in their favorite bands.

oh yea, but i meant the emo that gets lableded emo around my way is the type of music i said.
and emo can be punk but as a whole the emo im talkin about it wack and can be seperated as "emo"

bottom line of what im trying to say> dont trust dictionary meanings. i always hate it when someone pulls out the dictionary to prove me wrong, lol . cause sometimes words take on a different meaning to what they were originaly stated.

The Decemberists kinda sound kinda like Neutral Milk Hotel. Kinda. Music is mostly acoustic guitars, violins and horns. The lyrics are very poetic.

I know Hot Hot Heat, I'm not a big fan. They're not bad. Didn't particularly like the vocals.
