My mums polish, she's also an only child but she does not call her polish cousins brother an sister, I do understand where your coming from though.

Well she should, the very word cousin in Polish is brat cioteczny (for males) or siostra cioteczna (for females). Brat means brother, and Siostra means sister.

Regardless, on one here has any right judging my family structure or who i consiter my niece or who considers me their uncle.

i think everybody considers their cousins kids to be their nieces/nephews? or all the ppl i kno anyway. but congrats on being an uncle. i have a couple nieces and nephews back east and i never got to meet them so its kinda sad
