There’s been a change in plans regarding the sequel to Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet? The rapper’s previously-announced remake of the Cary Grant comedy Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House will now be written as a sequel to the 2005 comedy Are We There Yet? with the new title, Are We Done Yet?

Steve Carr will return as director and Revolution Studios is reportedly scurrying to sign up Nia Long, who played Cube’s girlfriend in the original; and Aleisha Allen and Philip Bolden, who played the kids in dire need of an old-fashioned whippin’.

The sequel will follow the quartet as they move from the big city to a new home in the suburbs. The house renovation, however, leads to chaos, particularly when the contractor who clashes with Cube bonds with his wife and the two kids. Production begins in Vancouver in June.

In related news, Cube is planning a tour to promote the release of his new album. The LA rapper will hit the road beginning April 19 in Anaheim, California and will continue through the beginning of June, ending in Los Angeles at the House of Blues.
