Non-Urban Music I want to get into more music.

Yes Rizzle the sitar is Indian. My cousin can play it. Other examples of Indian instruments include tumbi, tabla, dhol, algozhey, dholki......

Yeah, this is a saz:

But it's not Indian, it's Turkish.

Anyway, to get back on topic - I somewhat understand your prejudice towards NIN.

I didn't start listening to him* until I was around 15. Before that, just because of the name I assumed it was some sort of hardcore metal. How wrong I was.

nine inch nails is absolutely mindblowing music. Trent is a lyrical genius with an amazing sense of melody. I think you will love his stuff. I can actually see you really liking the album "The Fragile" actually. Go check it out.

*note - I refer to nine inch nails in the single tense as Trent Reznor IS nine inch nails....it's just him, he plays all the instruments and writes all the songs....the band has basically changed on every album, they are just session musicians really.

Same here. I am thinking "Puddle of Mudd", something I don't really like too much.

Come to think of it, I had totally forgot. El-P has done remixes for NIN, and Trent worked with El-P on his recent album, "I'll Sleep When You're Dead". I will definately check him/them out. They are Def Jux, right? Or no?

LOL at Puddle of Mudd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahahahahahahaha

No, most definately not on Def Jux.

NIN are on Interscope. They sell millions of records and are one of the biggest bands in the world.

I think I have a couple of El-P's NIN remixes. And yeah Trent featured on the "Flyentology" track.

Wish You were Here - Pink Floyd. If you liked Dark side you will probably love this as well.

Disintegration - The Cure. Very 80's but an amazing album. Alternative rock

Greatest Hits - Red Hot Chili Peppers. If your not already into these guys, you should be because they own :P. I'd recommend starting out with this album, find out what you like and go from there.

Either of these three: Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, And Justice For all - All by Metallica. If you think you would like something a bit heavier but not too heavy. These three albums are simply amazing with Puppets being my favorite. The guitar work is just beautiful.

Appetite for Destruction - Guns n Roses. GNR's master piece.

Sure, I'll check out some of that too for sure.

For an acoustic punk, check out "Swing Life Away" by Rise Against. For more of their punk side, check out "Survive" "Injection" and "Drones".

For a new folk singer, check out Bright Eyes, especially "First Day Of My Life".

If you want more of a melodic punk, check out my favorite album of all time, Stay What You Are by Saves The Day.

I want a song/album tattoo. I have no idea what I'd choose though. With the right font/design, "Scentless Apprentice" might look good.

I recently got into the blues, check out some of these albums/songs

Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood (album)
Eric Clapton - Unplugged (album)
B.B King - The Thrill Is Gone (song)
Muddy Waters - Electric Mud (album)

to name just a few
